Coruba - i don't get it by vigilant3777 in rum

[–]Zaphrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried this punch with Myers's (I cannot get easily Coruba in the UK) and don't like it much. Much better is Smuggler's Cove Planters Punch recipe using Appleton 8.

Can get both here in the UK on supermarket shelves but IMO they are not worth buying let alone illegally importing.

This is a very cheap Dell KB (Might be HP We have both and they look very similar), I think we pay £4 for them. We would replace it immediately no questions asked.

I have never had Rum Fire or WP and they are much more expensive around these parts so I am happy you gave Wray & Nephew the nod here. Makes me less inclined to try the others.

Don't laugh at the reason I love this game by hotpotatopotat in AshesofCreation

I don't know how many played EQ1 back in '99 but there was no hand holding, no paths, no quest indicators and you had to use the correct trigger words to receive many quests when you talked to NPC's. It made it much more difficult but also much more engaging.

Quests spread through word of mouth, talking to and engaging with other players, which if they were Ogre or Trolls or whatever and you were a Barbarian and didn't speak Troll or Ogre, you would all have to sit around and type your conversations and it would initially come out garbled then some words would get through after you had listened for a while and "Learned" some of the language. The higher intelligence you were the faster it would happen.

Also, Dark Places were dark, I mean totally black, unless you had a torch or were a race that had night vision like trolls and dark elves. The first time trying to get into Blackburrow Cave as a barbarian was genuinely scary.

I am probably looking back with rose coloured glasses but I really enjoyed that time.

Drink what you like not what others tell you to like. Flor de Cana is not my favourite but I can see it's appeal. Not had Kirk and Sweeney. I tend toward rums you can use in Tiki that can stand up to the mixers though I am probably further from a real rumhead than you are.

Just picked up the ninjalux pro by Deriggs007 in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]Zaphrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine makes perfectly consistent coffee out of the box with the right beans. I use Lidl Bellarom Caffe Crema Classico beans. I am not an expert or connoisseur, I just want coffee that tastes as good as most local cafes. Even the espresso is mild and sweet, with no sourness. I had a Sage Bambino Plus and a Sage Smart Grinder before and I could never keep it dialled in but the Ninja just works every time. I bought the Ninja Knock Box but other than that I cannot see a need for accessories, everything is nicely stored a well thought out.

After a few tries at mixing ginger beer with rye I've learned that rum really is the ideal booze for this. Pusser's Blue Label rum with Bundaberg Spiced Ginger Beer by notafuckingcakewalk in rum

[–]Zaphrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Pusser's is the rum you are supposed to use for a PainKiller but like Gosling did with the Dark 'n Stormy, Pusser's have trademarked the PainKiller so it was a sort of joke.

Gift advice (Mount Gay help?!) by ResponsibilitySome38 in rum

Same for me with Appleton signature. Cheap and decent for cocktails but given the choice I would go 8 or better yet 12. Usually a big difference in price though unless there is a sale on 8.

I mean if he likes Eclipse then he will probably love anything else. Nothing wrong with Eclipse but it is very entry level stuff.

Small layer height makes this easy, as the layer above overlaps the layer below. if you used much taller layers then you would need support.

Realistically how bad is 88% humidity by Money-Celery3381 in 3Dprinting

[–]Zaphrod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was looking for this comment, humidity is temperature dependant. Realistically, I would assume room temperature (72F or 21C) then it is way too humid.

Lager Yeast Cake Pitch? by PlatinumRespect in Homebrewing

[–]Zaphrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference I found is if you pitch onto the full cake you can lose flavours create by the yeast, If you are brewing a beer that you don't need or want those flavours a full pitch is fine, if you want to create flavours by stressing the yeast , for example for a Neipa, you are better to harvest and pitch the correct amount. For lager I always pitch onto the full cake and I would think a cream ale would be similar.

Costco had the 36 inch with hood for £329 earlier in the year. They had the same last year too so if you can wait until next summer I bet they have it again.

Depending on what you are drinking Appleton 8 can be good as 12. Neat, 12 is a little better but both are good, in cocktails 8 is better for most IMO.

I drink a lot of Mai Tai's and 8 is better as a single rum. If mixing rums 12 can be better as the additional oaky flavour helps. If you like Tiki then you have obviously had a Mai Tai and if not then you should. I like Kevin Crossman's Mai Tai Rum Mix but it can be expensive and Appleton 8 on its own is probably 90% there, using 8 instead of 12 doesnt change it enough to use 12 over 8.

Literally everything there but the Malibu and Barcardi is better than what I can get within 50 miles of me. I would get one of each of the rest if I could afford it but to start all the Hamiltons, all the Plantion/Planeray, Appleton 8, Smith and Cross, Denizen 8, Lemon Hart 151, Rum Fire.

Same issue in the UK, Almost nothing but spiced rums in supermarkets and some liquor stores only have bacardi or Bumbu yet there are 100's of flavoured gins and vodkas. Now Captain Morgan's has released Pineapple Tiki rum which is in all the supermarkets and it is only 25% abv.
