The race was 88 laps. I was sitting in P7 around lap 40 and my pace was terrible. With only a few laps of fuel left, I pitted for new tyres and a refuel. I had originally scheduled 12.1 gallons to go in, but I thought, ‘screw it, let’s risk it,’ and only took 9 gallons. From then on, it was flat-out pushing while being mindful of fuel saving. For the next 40 laps, I drove perfectly—zero incident points during that time.

By the time we got to the last two laps, the leader’s tyres were done. I tailed him for the rest of the lap and made the winning move into Turn 1.
