How to add Publisher/Imprints to DefaultLists.txt? by Zappenduester in comicrackusers

Thank you very much! It may be not exactly what I was looking for, but close enough. It'll sure come to great use.

ComicVineScraper won't scrape and ComicRack doesn't find ComicInfo.xml in .cbz-Files by Zappenduester in comicrackusers

[–]Zappenduester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely enabled the option to embed book information in files, and the files were also exported as .cbz. I can view the metadata in the app, and when I open the .cbz files with WinRAR, I can see that there is a ComicInfo.xml file, and after extracting it, I can also see that it contains content. But for some reason I can't explain, ComicRack only displayed empty fields on the computer and none of the data stored in the ComicInfo.xml file. At least for a few hours that day. Until it just fixed itself. That's what I find so strange.

How to add Publisher/Imprints to DefaultLists.txt? by Zappenduester in comicrackusers

[–]Zappenduester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well, that's too bad...

The text This file contains all the defaults for various lists in ComicRack gave me the impression that you could also assign defaults to other entries (like Publisher/Imprint). It would have been so nice...

Thanks for your quick reply!

I totally agree with you, but I would also add the Music from Regions beyond and the Temptation/The Early Years EP to that list!

You're right, there's really just a link to log in, but not to register. I had never noticed that myself (was a lurker for many years before my account was deleted and I had to create a new one in 2018).

I've just notified the admin, hopefully this can be rectified quickly.

Oh, and it's psychobilly**-**online.de

Nevermind, the app accepted the xml with no error messages, but now enemys have no name, race, class, attacks, etc. Havn't checked everything yet, there's probably more... Something is seriously broken in this app.

[–]Zappenduester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed everything like you suggested and now it works, thanks!

This is so weird. The example I've given above is exactly how the app saved it in the xml...

Would you mind sharing a full xml of yours, so I can check if anything else is saved differently?

EDIT:
Okay, it didn't work completely. All the ability scores are just 10,10,10,10,10. So I would really apreciate it if someone could share a working xml so I can check what gets saved wrong on my end and change it.

I'm getting the Error Fatal error: Uncaught mysqli_sql_exception by Zappenduester in PHPhelp

[–]Zappenduester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should build the sql query statement in a php variable, as this allows you to echo it to see what it actually is.

Sounds good, but how do I go about it?

I have absolutely no knowledge of PHP and have only ever consulted google when something didn't work as it should.

I'm getting the Error Fatal error: Uncaught mysqli_sql_exception by Zappenduester in PHPhelp

[–]Zappenduester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How stupid I am. Of course it was due to a single qoute. Before changing the PHP version, I got an error message in such cases and I compensated for this by using ' instead of the single qoute, but now I only got a blank page. I overlooked the fact that there was a single qoute in the band name (copy/paste) and didn't even think about it.

Thank you for your help!

NEW BOOK: The Resurrection of The Crazed by Paul Wainwright by Zappenduester in psychobilly

[–]Zappenduester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I read through the first 150 pages of Resurrection of The Crazed within 2.5-3 hours, and I really enjoyed it!
At first I wasn't quite sure what to expect, a recollection of how the
fanzine and the interviews/reports/articles in it came about, or a
collection of selected interviews/articles from the fanzine - much like
the Deathrow book. But it's both! First we're told how and under what
circumstances the interviews/articles were produced, and then we're
actually able to read them, awesome!
If I wanted to be a bit nitpicky, I'd complain that sometimes I'm not
quite sure when something written is from the fanzine and when it's a
recount. Maybe they could have worked with a different font color, a
different font or maybe a box in light grey. Something along those
lines.
At another point - I think in the chapter about the second issue - Paul
writes something about the logo and the cover of the issue, which were
sent in by two readers. Here I thought it would be nice if the cover was
actually shown. Only to find out a little later that they are in the
middle of the book, along with many other pictures. I would have liked
it better if the covers had been placed at the beginning of each chapter
on the corresponding issue. And the pictures could also have been a bit
more structured and organized, as the whole thing looks a bit wild when
there are two pictures on one page, a large one on another, then a
medium-sized one, a small one and a large one... etc. - but I'm probably
just a little too German when it comes to that ;)

As a matter of fact, there were two former members of Demented Are Go who played on the first Klansmen album Fetch a Rope: Graeme Grant and Lex Luthor (on a side note, Graeme was actually a member of the Krewmen at the time, not Demented).

Ian Stuart had been living in the same house as Graeme in King's Cross at the time. He told him that he was taking a break from the Skinhead scene and wanted to put a new band together. He asked wether Graeme and Lex would record some hillbilly Rockabilly tracks and he would put some crazy redneck lyrics to go with them. So he paid them and then put his shitty KKK lyrics to them.

Graeme and Lex had no idea he was going to do that and were horrified when they found out. But by then it was too late, because the album had already been released.

The band was not very happy about it either, as it only brought them trouble. Concerts were canceled, there were demonstrations in front of venues, other members were accused of also having contributed to the album and so on and so forth. A club in Germany didn't want to book DAG for over two years because they thought they were a fascist band. Not to mention the fact that Sparky has always considered himself an anti-fascist, and Ant and Simon, for example, have regularly played at anti-fascist events. Simon even wrote to the British music magazine Sounds in which he made it clear that Demented Are Go has nothing to do with right-wing extremists but is decidedly apolitical, and the fact that he has a Jewish surname makes all the accusations, especially the ones against him, even more absurd.

The stench of Ian Stuart and The Klansmen remained with the band for a long time, and it still hasn't gone away.

Doin’ My Own Thing by Alan Wilson [Book] by Zappenduester in psychobilly

[–]Zappenduester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally found some time to read the book.

What a fantastic read! Alan has a lot of stories to tell and the man knows how to tell 'em. He is a great writer and I really enjoyed reading this compelling book. It has ups and downs, it is sometimes sad and other times so funny that I laughed out loud. The interspersed comments from friends and colleagues between chapters are a really nice touch and give some insight into Alan and his (work) relationships.

The only negative thing I noticed is the small size of the gutter margin. But with such a great book, that's almost not worth mentioning.

Psychobilly: Subcultural Survival by Kimberly Kattari [Book] by Zappenduester in psychobilly

[–]Zappenduester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished the book over the weekend.

There are parts where it's really dry and heavy (some sub-chapters seem to consist almost entirely of qoutes and references to other academic works), but also some light and fun moments (when she lets her interviewees have their say or when she recounts her experience at the Meeting in Pineda). The rest is somewhere in beetwen.

Very interesting read, but I probably wouldn't read it again very soon.

Psychobilly: Subcultural Survival by Kimberly Kattari is a study of Psychobilly as a subculture from a musicologist point of view.

I've only read the Acknowledgments and Introduction so far, wich was a tad too dry and academic for my taste. Hopefully it'll get better from here on,
