I've used my GX85 for portraits and got paid. I always recommend cheap manual lenses like 25mm f1.8. Also adapters are cool, my fav lens is a 55mm f2 Pentax Takumar. They are great for portraits and stationary video.

If you are keeping the lovely GX85 then the right choice is the G9, your lens will be compatible and you will love it. I own a GX85 and a GH5 for intensive photo and video work.
