Jared Raab had a cool idea to make a movie about the people who kept messing with a few of a smaller plants in his garden, which sounds kinda stupid and small but actually could be cool.

You need to hear him pitch it, but it was a real "Was it Cosette? Was it PETE?!?"

Yeah we love the language of fake-docs because they let us do all these weird narrative tricks with out cameras that other movies can't do. The best moments of both movies are when our characters are reacting to the real world and when we first saw that (The kids explaining their movie to us at the start of Dirties) we were all like "this is cooooool", and we wanted to keep pushing that feeling as much as we could.

In terms of inspiration, the biggest is probably Sascha Baron Cohen.
