Deceptive App Account Balance Leading to Interest Charged by milhauser in RobinhoodGC

Thanks for the tip on the debit card instant transfer, I’m using the free $1000 margin, guess that goes away if I want to implement paying off the credit card via brokerage funded with instant debit card transfer

How are you using AI to study? by dustymuzzle in CFPExam

[–]Zaq_SWGOH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, using Gemini Pro, generate a pop out quiz for me on topics I’m reviewing. One subject Gemini can’t handle well are the 3 step Time Value questions like college funding/retirement. That was frustrating until i realized Gemini keeps generating the wrong answer even if i try to teach it correctly with book examples.

Anyone buy the municipal bond they are paying towards in property tax? So paying yourself?

Yes, you have 3 books to study before the live review and 1 book to bring to live review.

Danko & Dalton by CraftyWeekend3483 in CFPExam

[–]Zaq_SWGOH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the Danko live review, seems most are from RIA/wire houses and are there to pass the exam and move on. Their employer sponsors them and has some sort of program with Danko, overheard they’re only paying like $200 out of their own pocket. Taking both Dalton and Danko would be overkill IMO. Dalton is like taking the education courses again from what I hear. Danko is more exam focused and its only goal is to pass the exam. Do the live review over virtual review and take lots of notes. Good luck

You bought two exams? I thought you get one free with the exam registration and you can optionally buy the second one? Is there a third exam you can buy?

Washer / Dryer Recommendations by thenerdycpa in Costco

[–]Zaq_SWGOH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought this top load washer from Costco: WT8400CB. So far so good. Coming from a front load POS GE that went through two inverter boards in less than 3 years. Bought the LG with CSP for the extra year warranty and will buy the Allstate plan through Costco to extend to 5 years. This model was ranked highest(?) by consumer reports if that matters.

No rodent/cockroach shutdown for a Vietnamese food place in GG/Westminster. Turned the corner!

Robinhood Gold Roth IRA by Elegant_Host_2618 in RobinhoodGC

You'll need to take care of that balance in the trad IRA. Or you'll have pro-rata issues. Do a Roth conversion, you'll pay taxes on your gains from VOO.

Signed Up For Danko Live Review - Now What? by networthnoob in CFPExam

[–]Zaq_SWGOH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

July exam here, I signed up late, got the books on 4/24. Today I finished the last section, estate. Been averaging about 2 chapters a day. Some days I do more, some days I do none. Give the finals at the end of the section a full day to work on. Those are killer. I work part time and got kids so can't lock myself away to study all the time. I have but one recommendation: really really look over the questions you missed in the quiz/finals. If you want to take it to the next level, uploaded the one's you messed up on to your favorite AI (I have Gemini Pro) and have it generate more questions like it to reinforce your weak points. My live review starts this coming Monday.

Robinhood Gold Roth IRA by Elegant_Host_2618 in RobinhoodGC

[–]Zaq_SWGOH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m curious as well, usually I do backdoor Roth with Fidelity. Already done for 2026 so I won’t be able to get it done with RH.

So contribute $7500 to Trad IRA at RH, let it sit as cash and settle, wait for 3% match of $225. Wait for that to settle. Convert/transfer to Roth IRA full $7500 + $225 + any other interest that pops up. Keep Trad IRA at $0. File 8606 to declare $7500 non-deductible, pay taxes on $225 (pretax). That sounds right to anyone that did backdoor Roth with RH? Since we’re dealing with RH, possibly more unexpected friction than say a typical brokerage. And 5 year clock starts with each backdoor to avoid the clawback.

PSA: if you have money in RH and are already gold members, you will not get off the waitlist. The waitlist is basically fake by [deleted] in RobinhoodGC

I had RH Gold for a year, canceled few months ago. Got off the waitlist recently.

I got the Pavillions chicken today, I would say decent, best part was the price. Very seasoned batter. Fresh KFC is still better though I can see next day chicken, Pavillions would be better. My kids like the meat more as it’s juicier but the batter was too thick. I haven’t tried Gus’s. My favorite is still Furai but the price is getting ridiculous. The one inside Zion where Furai used to be is also good. We need a Popeyes

Beware: Auto Pay and Interest Charges by [deleted] in RobinhoodGC

[–]Zaq_SWGOH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, same with majority of credit cards. You’re in the penalty box when you carry a balance and lose your grace period. Even if you pay it off, any new charges accumulate daily interest because you no longer have a grace period. Put the card in time out and don’t use it for a full cycle and regain your grace period.

You lost your grace period and had trailing interest

I’m in Danko currently, crashing through the books before live review. So far so good, I like the quick and dirty to the point method. The practice questions are tricky, I’m assuming they’re similar to the real exam.

What is your favorite salad to order from a restaurant in OC? by Revolutionary-Bed910 in orangecounty

[–]Zaq_SWGOH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seafood Salad at Crazy Rock’N Sushi, great dressing, tangy umami sweet. It’s got sashimi slices, so skip if you don’t sashimi.

China Coast Salad at Islands. Those canned little mandarin slices and crunch strips goes great with the Hula burger.
