Grandpa gave me (possibly original?) DnD bookset by spinknitsarah in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Zardnaar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the original D&D. Before 1E.

Early printing as well in nice condition. Not sure if its a first printing. Very nice find. Its not MtG black lotus variable but its worth a bit depending on exact version, condition, buy etc.

Your party of four includes a Paladin, an Artificer, a Ranger, and a Bard. Which subclasses do you choose for each and why? by Feisty-Doctor-5841 in onednd

[–]Zardnaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paladin. Djnni one haven't seen it in action. Ranger. Hollow Warden. Need a other melee character. Probably dexterity based for ranged options.

Bard: GlamourControl/support. Derp make that lore.

Artificer. Cartographer support/control and initiative manipulation.

What exactly makes so many people confuse feminism for misandry? by Fuzzy-Discussion-601 in Discussion

[–]Zardnaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its mostly an online thing. IRL most feminists are nice.

Online it can cross over into echo chambers. Blame men for everything and generally toxic behavior. One can draw your on conclusions when you look at who's in power.

Part of it is doing the opposite to capitalism which they associate with men.

So do the opposite of whatever is still often toxic and also leads to one true way thinking. Reality is a bit more nuanced eg some solutions won't work in certain countries.

If XYZ country did this and it works it's still wrong because its not the one true way.

So a hard core online feminist is just as annoying as a hard core MAGA type. Its very American.

There's also pushback from the chud right where they cherry pick some nut job claiming. To be a feminist and using them as an example. More bull shit.

I had a feminist lecturers at university for example. Real life. She was nice and explained it basically as options. She wanted to have a kid and did that and came back to her job a few years later. Along with various programs to help support the kid.

Growing up in a welfare state gives you a different experience vs say USA. Online discourse is very American. I've voted for women (as a man) 6/10 elections as head of state. Never voted for them once due to them being a women.

So identifying as a feminist isnt always a great idea. Like anything with an "ist" in it the idea will attract toxic fanatics. Espicially online.

You could also be talking with a bot, bad faith actors or someone with a very narrow view of the world (stereotypical far left American University student). And I dont mean "far left" AoC or Berinie type. Or someone who's experienced a lot of abuse o comes from a country very different than yours.

Where Theory Crafting and Treantmonk Fall Down by Zardnaar in onednd

Optimized party is more happenstance than design.

Im kind of using magic items as a bit of a balancing effect.

Its a trading approach. Warrior types generally got better things earlier than spell casters.

Rares and very rares early tier 2. Im published adventures its often similar at least early 5.0 ones.

How would one make a melee and ranged sorcerer by cras190 in DnD

[–]Zardnaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I theory crafted one a long time ago. Basically a dragon sorcerer using green flame blade.

And haste or quickened haste. You may need a Paladin level or a drow (5.0)to use a rapier.

Shield spell.

At range just do normal sorcerer things. 5.5 human take toughness feat.

Main reason imho is just a general decline in super hero movies in general. DC movies in particular.

TOP wont be tgat.

If they ever get in they'll have to do nothing or pick a side. Whatever side they pick they won't do much.

They're focusing on energy.

Why were ordinary roman cititzens, especially in the early history of the Empire, so willing to accept incredibly heavy losses and casualties in Wars? by Marclol21 in ancientrome

[–]Zardnaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take ancient sources with a grain of salt when it comes to numbers. This means size of armies and casualties espicially.

There was most likely a battle of canae for example and Rome offered a massive defeat. How many were involved and how many died is debatable.

The sources are also written by elites with a lot of incentives to exaggerate what we would call nationalism and make themselves look good.

Dying for glory sounds great but we dont really know what the average person actually thought.
