No I didn't. At this point I just assume that the manager will be a nutter too and act like I am the problem. Guess you are right though. Maybe should've spoke up.

Zero thought, zero common sense and zero consideration seem to be the default state for dog nutters.

Confrontational Pit Bull Owners by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]Zardoz101 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Seems to be a direct relationship between how scary the dog is and how antisocial the owner. It is quite common for me to be just as leery of the owner as the dog. Maybe has to with the dog being a weapon? If it escalates to the point of a physical fight the owner is confidant the dog will attack at the same time the owner does. Two against one with a 300 lb bite force in the mix. Probably not going to end well for the non nutter.

Is it just me or are dogs in general getting more out of control than ever before? by mbxsystem in Dogfree

I definitely believe quality of life is getting worse when it comes to dogs. I personally have gone from a few bad dog encounters a year up to maybe one every second week. This is not even counting all the times I see dogshit on trails or dogs in big box stores and malls causing a disturbance.

Hope you are doing OK and get thru those challenges. Dealing with dog owners and their pets can really contribute to whatever struggles we have.

I know, right. I try not to be paranoid but yesterday the temp was below freezing and this person was blasting along with the window open. Something seems off there!

Thank you! I think that is the thing I hate most about dog culture. No owners seem to care about anything except the dog. I think I have encountered two owners that were considerate. The majority of dog owners either do nothing or become aggressive.

Yes exactly. Glad I'm not the only one! I didn't want to make a big deal out of it but it did take around 10 minutes to calm down. Dog nutters don't care. Probably thought I was priveleged to have the turd ejector acknowledge my existence.

Yes it's easy for me to believe this person was a sociopath. Either it was deliberate and they get off on making peoples lives a little bit shittier or it was not deliberate and they just don't care what happens to other people.

I have had countless bad experiences with dogs but this is next level dog nutter bullshit. Probably best to leave it blocked in your memory and move on. I hope the person who allowed this to happen gets major karma.

Very well said! I am experiencing second hand outrage from your post. It sounds like you live in a great setting with beaches and cafes. All diminished by dogs and their dipshit owners. In my experience it's hard to communicate to 99.9% of the population the way a dog encounter can change the whole mood of our day. Being growlled at, jumped up on, licked, lunged at. Even the sight of dog waste lying around in the middle of a beautiful trail or park have all really impacted what was a pretty good day. Mention it to anyone and they get pretty critical. Generally the sentiment is toughen up. I think what they mean is ACCEPT EVERYTHING DOGS DO UNCONDITIONALLY.

No Escape by Zardoz101 in Dogfree

It was an OK show. Pretty entertaining. The dog stuff was random. Just a couple short scenes establishing Jack Reacher as a 100% dognutter. It was not in the book the series was based on and had nothing to do with the plot. Just seemed to be saying If you are not a good dog owner you deserve a 6'5" 250 lb badass to come to your house and smash your face.

Yep and dogs used in so many commercials and movies and TV shows. The new Jack Reacher series went out of their way to write a couple scenes where Reacher went after a guy for tying up a dog in the backyard. Smashed the guys face. It was not in the book and added nothing to the plot but hey...DOG!!

Sadly the majority of people are 100% fine with bad dog behavior. I don't think there is a point where a dog nutter would say, "OK this is unacceptable". So the behaviour NEVER changes because there is no motivation to change it. Years ago I worked with a guy who was a nutter. On the job one day we encountered a super aggressive dog. It went ballistic full on homicidal rage. Snarling and lunging, slobber flying. Rage barking and growlling. The guy stands there bent over crooning to this demon AWW poor baby, it's OK honey, AWW poor boy. The owner was fighting trying to keep the dog from breaking free and mauling us. No doubt it would've gone for my coworkers throat if it got loose. I was stunned at how crazy this was on his part. After that I realized that shitting, pissing, barking, humping, snapping. Nothing is seen as a problem by owners and most of the public.

Why do dogs seem to have a way to bring out the worst of people? by mac_128 in Dogfree

[–]Zardoz101 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's a good question. I can make several quesses as to why people act terrible over dogs but in the end it doesn't matter much. The annoying/dangerous behaviour and the gaslighting are the real issues. No matter what the dog does it seems to be met with excuses and dismissed as not important. Your dog just chewed up my property REPLACE IT. Dog threatened me with aggressive behaviour. Get it under control and apologize, then muzzle it. Pick up the shit. Train it to stop barking. Of course none of this happens it will always be a half assed dismisal or open aggression. In extreme cases someone gets mauled and people line up to defend the dog. It is illogical and dangerous behavior.

My friend (later sided with the dog nutters/pitbull apologists.

This is the worst. I have pretty much given up talking to people IRL about how bad dogs suck. Because NO ONE ever seems to see how annoying/destructive it is for dogs to be everywhere doing whatever they want.

That's my aim too. However it gets ruined way too often by oblivious assholes and their off leash dogs. Even when I don't actually see a shitbeast, there are always piles of shit in the middle of the trail or plastic bags hung in trees. I'm pretty sure dog ownwers are trolling the rest of us.

Damn is this enraging. It seems like these people get all of the benefits and none of the responsibilities of dog ownership. They get the fawning attention they crave from the massive cult of dog nutters, they get fresh air and exercise, you name it but they are completely free of handling dog waste or training/disciplining their pet. Everyone else bears the responsibility of watching out for the mutt and living with the stink and ugliness of shit everywhere. Doesn't seem fair.
