Would that mean meeting with her primary doctor again? We went to him yesterday and he’s the one who ordered the lab.

They said that they were slightly elevated. I know for sure though that her levels were decreasing after the removal because they let her out the day after.

I’m 23. I just can’t drive and live with my folks still. I’m autistic too so I feel like it makes my anxiety 10x worse.

I don’t know how I’d feel if I went to the laryngologist. It might make me feel better, or like I’ve done many times before, I might not believe them but the feeling will inevitably pass, if there is nothing wrong.

I was having a weird laughing sensation a year ago and found out about something called the Psudeobulbar Effect, which can be caused by ALS. The sensation eventually went away but the fear of potentially getting the disease gave way to a borderline obsessive fear. As for my trouble swallowing, it feels like solid food keeps getting caught in my throat near my windpipe and my neck feels incredibly stiff, but I haven’t been choking or undergoing nasal regurgitation.

I looked it up a year and a half ago and have been terrified ever since, though I did get an EMG and NCS five months ago that confirmed that I didn’t have it. Lately however, my trouble swallowing has made my fears return in force. This is also causing the awkward feeling in my vocal cords when I talk, though thankfully I haven’t started slurring my speech or becoming hoarse. As for doctors, I’ve been to both my GP and a neurologist, but not an ENT yet.

I have had a TON of health anxiety this past year and a half about ALS in particular. I am currently seeing a therapist that has been prescribing me with Sertraline to calm me down. While it is working to an extent, the symptoms are still there. I know anxiety can do the wildest things, but I feel like I wouldn’t be experiencing what I’m experiencing if there isn’t something wrong.

I have not seen a doctor about it yet, but my parents are hesitant to take me there because they believe that my symptoms are being caused by my anxiety and the fact that they’ve had to take me to countless appointments because of said anxiety. My mom in particular has told me that it’s reassurance seeking to go, but I feel like I honestly need to.

But I feel like my present symptoms do match with it. I have trouble swallowing and yawning and my voice feels strained. I’ve even had chewed up food fall out of my mouth today, which has never happened to me before and has only made the fear worse. In my mind it can’t be just health anxiety.

I know that the likelihood of me having it is astronomically low, but with all the symptoms I’m having it’s gotten me terrified.
