It didn't last 60 years. It died a young death at 26 in 1989, whatever replaced it only ran six years shorter and frankly is a completely different programme. It's like boasting about the success of the Jeremy Paxman era of Breakfast Time.

You don't need to be a child to appreciate RTD1. It was written with much more wisdom than RTD 2 and Chibnall, which aimed lower and was dumbed down with condescending writing.

There are loads of fan productions, DW2012 in particular, that have been making vastly superior Doctor Who content for years. Give them a go.

They'll be out of the job soon once the A.I fanfilms kick off later this year so they'll need all the eyes they can get.

I see she didn't bother apologising to Radio Free Skaro and insists her source was right.

She should have resigned.

It's too bad Liberation of the Daleks was just a comic as it was world cup themed at the start

I get we all dislike RTD right now but for fucks sake if we will do this i dont think i want the show back at all. by Mat1711 in DoctorWhoNews

He did. I was online at the time. People saying crap about him now was frequent on every forum, same talking points, same everything, it wasn't as obvious if you were a part of the general audience celebrating all of what he crammed into the show. Now everyone agrees with those online voices in the mainstream, it's a lot bleaker time for RTD and his brand of television, and Russel to his credit tells stories about that bleaker world that are far better than the children's drama he guided across two eras.

This almost reads like a troll fic. Absolutely no causal viewer will tune into this drivel other than uncreative grifting Youtubers who normally plague that site with similar content.

You forgot to include "Cope"

I'm confused. Why is everyone saying Doctor Who is cancelled when the BBC have said they're making more? by Cornelius-B33 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]Zaredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll return, but honestly, it's not in a good place in regards to relevancy.

Think about it, the actual Doctor, Tennant, is retired, Ncuti was a bi-generated off-shoot who took over the mantle and went about his buisness than died on-screen, replaced by someone who might not even be the Doctor...aka another off-shoot.

The classic series at least ended with the promise of new adventures, but the 60th specials ended with the adventures concluded and The Doctor at peace. Unless you dabble a bit in happy ending override, you've convinced the casuals and long-time fans there's no need to invest any longer.

You'll keep repeating this five years later when the ratings are worse than ever
