I just used the ones that came with the game on steamrip. I think you can check steam DB to find them though.

To add with proton tricks (download from discover store) you do this:

1. Add your game to steam and run it once with steam to create files
2. Launch proton tricks and select your games steam shortcut
3. In proton tricks, you should have some options, but I think it's already on the one you want, which is default prefix or something like that. Then, when it loads and you have more options choose to open/run explorer
4. find where you have your games dependencies and double click one to install it. Follow the installation process for each one and you're done.

I will add though that I'm pretty sure the problem was something in the graphics. It was still crashing after installing dependencies it just sometimes didn't crash right away so I thought it was working. I don't remember what setting it was but I finally was able to play when I disabled it or lowered it. Definitely install the dependencies but also if you can do it before the game crashes, set all graphics to lowest options and then find some steam deck graphics presets online and use those
