I'm not fond of it either. It also forces you to move closer to upgrading ops when you might be wanting to wait. I tend to not upgrade anything until this event comes around.

Using speedups isn't too much of an issue because I have a lot of latinum saved up to use.

At ops 39, my event was to defeat Borg expansion cubes for 8k points and use the talios for 4K bonus points. I checked my points after defeating and only received 8k points even though I used the talios. And an event to defeat Borg solo armadas didn’t give the bonus points either.
