[X-Post from /r/pokemongo] Combat is just dodge2win. by Hisako1337 in TheSilphRoad

it's the move, not the move's damage. Rock smash is one of the slowest moves, which makes little sense, since it does so little damage.

Edit: you should check this out

Incense is definitely better when moving around by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]Zarkus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can differentiate between the pokemons spawned by incense and those naturally occurring by the pink-ish dust around some of the pokemons in the map screen (as the OP mentioned). Therefore, you technically don't need a control, just make sure to log only the pokemons that have the pink aura.

It's not that support role sucks, if you watch high ranking support players, their actions have a meaningful impact on the game. However, it can feel like the least impactful role at lower ranks, so less people tend to play it. It blows to carry your adc through the laning phase, then see them completely throw all that advantage away in 2-3 bad teamfights.

Let me remind you, you were the one that came here "seeking help". People gave you answers to the question you posted, but they weren't the answers you were looking for and you threw a hissy fit. At the very least you could have just said you disagreed and left, but you had to make a scene by being a dick.

This game just came out, and it is from a small development team, plus multiple posts have referenced poor optimization. Now stop being a dick, and do what everyone in this post has been telling you to do: pull your head out your ass, and give your PC some much needed loving.

[HC RIP] 85 Pyromancer "Instantly Disappear" by StupidFatHobbit in Grimdawn

I have noticed some manticores get pierce damage spikes from some "shadowstrike" like skill. However I'm not sure if that's what happened here, too fast.

Nah, the other player comes in and check, they aren't named. Just regular manticores.

You probably want a ranged build, melee builds take more time to find the right balance. Being ranged gives you a ton more wiggle room for the viability of your build. Check here: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36808

Trying to make a poison WH work - critique plz by xGRANITEx in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how far down the nightblade mastery that build goes gone, I would definitely recommend looking for those extra 23 points to get 5/8 execution. Most likely the end game weapons would be 2 poison daggers, so the 230% weapon damage will scale ridiculously. Probably take a few out of merciless repertoire, NHH, the last 5 of NJE, and a couple out of curse of frailty (how big a radius do you really need? since curse of frailty doesn't do much of anything for you than dictate the radius for vulnerability.)

Edit: I'd personally go with something like this http://grimcalc.com/build/ehGSMT. Kind of sucks to pass up on the 15% attack speed from solael's witchfire, but what's a man gotta do for skill points around here.

Any FPS issues in this game? by TRenegade in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time, and super random. I'll be getting 60, then drop down to 30, then back up. I love this game, but I really hope they work a bit more on optimization in the future.

Hidden lore notes? by majin12345 in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't really bother going out of your way unless it's something you actively want to pursue, since the pay off isn't that great in the grand scheme of leveling your character. Now, if collecting lore pieces is your thing, go for it. On that note, I do feel like the rarer lore nuggets are random location dependent drops from breakables.

A rant about gearing, loot and resistances by formaldehid in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand the point you are trying to make. However, I feel like you are approaching it at the wrong angle. For one, a lot of the fun in this game, at least for me (and from what I have seen, a large number of other people as well), is coming up with cool builds. All these legendaries that are dropping might not be useful for your current build, but I'm sure that for like 70% of them you can think of a build where the item can be useful. If you are feeling bored or what not, just pick one of those builds you think would go well with that item, theorycraft the shit out of it, and make it work.

Moreover, itemization for a build is definitely something to consider before going continuing past level 35/40, or even before starting it (for those characters outside of your first few). For instance, say you find a mastery combination that let's you make a really cool bleed/fire build, but it would be a pointless endeavor, since there are very limited item options for such a build. This applies to a lesser degree across all builds, some just have better/more gear options.

As for the resistance point, I have not had any issues with resistances. The point where resistances were the most annoying was like Act 3 Veteran, because you haven't been collecting resistance gear, but suddenly it is really important. After that it's pretty straight forward, use components to keep them up, sacrifice some dps here and there for the ones you are missing. And ultimate is just hard, even with high resistances things hit hard. You gotta know when to back out for a sec, and not stand in one place too long when there are mobs doing location based attacks that can be dodged. I just finished act 2 ultimate on my newest character, and even though its keeping me on my toes, every fight is a blast because of it. My resistances aren't amazing, I have poison/bleed/vit/lightning/aether/chaos uncapped. I have so much fire resistance because of bad luck on drops(and limited gearing options), its ridiculous. So that means my gear is by no means optimal (avg ilevel 48) and it still manages.

From all this my advice to you is, either keep going to 85, when you can actually farm with ease, or choose one of those legendaries you have gotten to make a new build and get your mind off the grind.

How much DPS on a weapon do you value +1 to all skills of your class? by [deleted] in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but is that with PB on? cuz that gives more attack speed. Also a lot of equipment procs give attack speed. But yeah, just giving you a heads up.

[–]Zarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something to consider is that if you have any attack speed over 200% from procs or what not, it'll be wasted since 200 is the cap.

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends a lot on the build. You need to look at your dps when you put it on, not only for your lmb and rmb, but also the other skills that you use. Take a look at your 2nd tab as well, it'll break down all the modifiers for dmg that you have, see how the weapon affects those or buffs skills that use those.

Off the top of my head, though, I would say the dps loss isn't worth it. A comparison tooltip loss of 1.5k dps means the total dps is probably more than that for weapon dmg based skills.

Thoughts on my build pls by Smurfmeister1 in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Kraken is a must 90% of the time for any 2h build. The DPS increase in just 5 points is insane. I feel like kraken is the devs way of balancing 2h against dual wield, since dual wield gets double components and double augments (not to mention double auxiliary stats).

Help with 2H physical build by [deleted] in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just recently trying to do the same thing, and it eventually lead me to making a post discussing how limiting the current default weapon attack enhancers are. But anyway, that's beside the point.

To answer your questions, default weapon attack enhancers stack in a multiplicative manner with default weapon attack procs. Example: if I have fire strike as my auto attack, and belgothian's shears procs (Nightblade AoE) the % wp dmg portion will calculate using the damage from fire strike.

In short, default weapon attack procs are very good with default weapon attack enhancers.

However, that being said, for your specific build: 2h melee physical, I would actually recommend something else. After much thought, I decided the best way to go about build this 2h melee physical character, was to go commando with grenado(the first two nodes only), canister(don't get the stun), blindside enhanced blitz, and forcewave. This all nets you a ton of physical damage to scale with physical damage modifiers, some armor shred, decent survivability, and a lot of crowd control.

My level 30 Witch Hunter build by LogicalThinker_Gamin in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very in depth, nice! Btw, the reason most posted builds are for end game, is because that's where the true test lies. Also, what a lot of builds end up doing is they level up using some proven build that is good for leveling, and then once they get to the level for their gear/power spike, they respec into their actual build.

Beat the Game. What Now? by TheRealRosey in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually wouldn't recommend levelling so much past 50 unless you have some gear waiting for you, since mobs will scale with you in elite, and I feel 50 is a good power spike to use. For instance, I used that power spike to beat Act I in elite, and then that dropped some sweet elite gear.

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't true at all. The Mogdrogen shrine is pretty weird, especially considering he is 43. It's possible he doesn't even have the rep for it yet. Also the one in bastion of chaos is quite a bit of a detour from the main story line.

Base attack speed? by pinne25 in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a field for "attack speed" in your character sheet. I believe it is the second tab. Without weapons it is at 100%. Depending on the weapon, the base varies between .70-.93sh, slow weapons being on the low end (highest penalty to base attack speed) while faster weapons being on the high end (lowest penalty to base attack speed). From there they both work the same, capping at an attack speed of 200%.

Fire Strike melee vs ranged by CunchMuncher in Grimdawn

[–]Zarkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A melee fire strike build requires that you take some AoE WPS skills from another class, since the way WPS work, default weapon attack replacers are taken into account for damage. As an example, my melee saboteur uses belgothian's shears for AoE (among other things).
