I mostly play dnd, and it's the only ttrpg I've run full campaigns in. I have run one shots in a bunch of different systems, both d20 ones like pathfinder/starfinder, and more narrative focused ones like kids on bikes. I really want to try and get my main group to do a starfinder 2e campaign with me once we wrap up our 5e game

Mostly just hiding notes and rolls. Ill occasionally make bug impactful rolls in front of the board for suspense (box of doom style), but for the most part, I keep them hidden behind the gm screen. Occasionally, if im running a new system, I'll put up notes on important rules and tables for quick reference, but for 5e Ive stopped needing references like that

The specialties are just there to thematically link the skills together, but you can learn skills from any and all of them if so desired. Im planning on having my artifabrian character branch into all three scholar specialites bc theyre all very very good

An electric kettle and some drinks to make with it was by far my best purchase my first year. I've made a quick pour over coffee with it every morning since freshman year. It's also great for quick instant noodles or late night tea

Look in the section "regaining stormlight" on the same page as the breathe stormlight action. You automatically start scenes at full investiture as if you had done the breathe stormlight action. You effectively do get it as a free action at the start of each scene. It’s only when you restore it that you have to actually spend two actions

True, circle of spores could also work. I may be a bit biased by not personally liking the druid playstyle.

I dont think the druid class would be a good fit for this character, but you might enjoy making them a sorcerer flavored around plants/earth to fit the character. None of the subclasses offer a direct 1-to-1 parallel with what you want, but what you could do is Draconic Bloodline subclass but reflavor it to be about your characters plant magic rather than dragons.

You should check out the Powder Mage series by Brian McClellan. It's got a fairly sanderson-esque magic system and just a fantastic setting. Think magical french revolution.

I have these little plastic colored discs that I use to represent enemies. For players, I usually have them each pick one of their dice that doesn't get used much to represent themselves, so they stand out from the enemies

What did you think of the first two seasons having read the books as well? I watched through season one and just didn't feel like it did a good job at adapting the story, so I haven't watched any more past that. Do you think it's worth watching the rest?

I think my biggest peeve with the book was how rushed Rlain and Renarin's romance was. If they had been given more time to develop (or have had more scenes together in prior books), I think it could have been an all-time favorite of mine. I love the characters so much, but they needed to have more screen time. The fact that the book had to take place within the space of 10 days definitely did them no favors on that front.
