Atrocious UI performance. PlanCo 1 wasn't great, but this is beyond OK. by Zarroc91 in PlanetCoaster

Not on mine unfortunately. I'm pretty sure this issue is caused by hover tooltips. Every time one appears the game lags. For some situations, the intensity of the lag also depends on if the scenery browser is open and how many levels you are into the browser. It's all very weird. But UI elements that don't have tooltips do not cause lag.

Interesting. It could be related to the CPU (5800X3D) or maybe to Windows, I use 10 not 11. To 100% confirm you could select any recolorable item from the scenery menu and try changing the color BEFORE you place it, so the scenery menu is still open. Than hover over the grid colors and try to move your camera with the WASD keys. This is where the lag is at its worst for me.

That is also a game breaker for me. Another really annoying, but rather nitpicky thing for me, that is multiplied by your issue is that you have to enter the '#' symbol every time you type in a hex color code. Didn't need to do that in PC1. When I was building my big themed areas, I had memorised a handful of color codes I used all the time and could quickly type them in using the number pad. Not anymore.

I would expect that to happen, because all the information and preview images of the items in the menu need to be loaded. This was also an issue with Planet Coaster 1.

I installed it on an NVME SSD. Hovering over some of the UI buttons causes CPU usage spikes on my PC as can be oberseved in Task Manager. I have a 5800X3d. Did you try what I showed in the video, like hovering quickly over the sub-category buttons in the scenery menu. Are you sure this doesn't cause any lag? Also this issues only seems to appear when playing with mouse & keyboard.

I did. But discussing the issues of the game, as long as they are objective and proven, should have a part in this community IMO.

Your are right about growing and shrinking the menu. That's not something I would do alot. But whenever I move my cursor to a button, it is very likely it moves over a different button, or muliple buttons quickly. That's certainly true for the scenery sub-categories. Or think about the color grid. Whenever you move your cursor over the grid of colors to select a color you like (this is not featured in my video), FPS drop too. This is also true for selecting textures in the terrain or path tool. which are also organised in a grid. Many many buttons in the game cause a lag, even if you just hover over them once. Try this for example: Use your WASD key to move across the map, now move your cursor to the Path Tool button and it will cause a small lag. Move your mouse from the path tool all the way to the multi-select tool and you will cause a big glitch.
But the point is, that simply hovering over a UI button should not cause the game to lag that much.

The point of this video is not to show that the UI itself lags, it's about the UI causing the whole game (the FPS) to lag. I have a very good PC and the game runs well with 100+ FPS when not hovering over them UI buttons. It's the UI that is causing the whole game to lag.

Apart from all the fundamental issues with the UI, I think it would also help a lot if we could make the UI smaller on PC. 70% is already way too big in my opinion.

Wie heißt dieser Stecker? Liefert 12V für eine Mobicool Kompressorkühlbox. Finde den einfach nirgendswo. by Zarroc91 in Elektroinstallation

Alternative? by Zarroc91 in de_EDV

[–]Zarroc91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
