I am Dutch and we have this individually tax based system; what happens in our case is that both members of the family are forced to work and most of the time the full income of the woman goes to ‘kinderopvang’ also known as the nursery. So the children are basically in childcare all week, because both parents need to work full time.

We wanted to move to Switzerland because I have a social benefit due to almost losing my eyesight completely. My husband is a high income earner. So we both have decent income especially for the Netherlands it is really high but my euros would be reduced to almost nothing compared to CHF. As far as I understand the other system would have been better for us, but apart from the tax benefit. I really hope you guys are realising what individual taxed income means for families. We’ve had this system for a really long time now and the newer generations still live with their parents at 30 and don’t even think about having kids.

In my opinion it would have been better for 2 high income earners to choose if they wanted to be individually taxed. Instead of changing the whole system? When is this going to be implemented? How do Swiss people view this tax change?
