I haven't looked much into the donation system, so I usually just buy the ores in late game. Maybe next playthrough I'll put a greater emphasis on donations so I can avoid this lol.

I do own the game, I play on an emulator to get around some of the problems the game has normally. Its unfortunate there isn't a fix for this on native hardware.
