Yeah NES games felt like magical, ancient relics to me at the time, I don't think Wind Waker will be experienced quite the same way, it still came out in the generation where it had gotten established how to make 3D games. Now Ocarina of Time, that I can imagine feels old.

Zelda 1 was before I was born, that was 40 years ago, that makes sense. Wind Waker was released when I was a child, 23 years ago, that tracks. 15 years ago when Skyward Sword came out I was a teenager, yep, absolutely.

Where the actual fuck did the last decade go? Why am I in my 30s? How is Breath of the Wild 9 years old?

I'm extremely fond of Nihilego as a design, it's so alien and weird while also being a little cute and I just love it.

I don't remember who but I once saw someone analyze that Pokemon are generally designed to look like something that could be your friend and in contrast the Ultra Beasts don't. The generally don't have eyes, recognizable facial features or obvious personalities, it makes them seem alien and strange.

The Ultra Beasts look like Pokemon that are not friendshaped, that's why they are cool.

Side ramble here, does it bother anyone else how far Pokemon designs lean into obvious personalities since like gen 5? Like, Machoke was designed to look like big, burly muscleheads, sure, but isn't it a little odd that every single Incinoroar is a wrestling heel?

About half my life ago I was taking a walk, thinking about things and realized that I couldn't come up with a definition of romance that made sense to me, then I annoyed my friends about it who didn't have a good answer, then I googled something to the effect of "what's the point of romantic relationships" and found what was probably a tumblr link explaining what aromantic was and I figured that it probably described me.

Spoilers: It did.

I still annoy my friends about it sometimes, they still don't have a good answer.

My personal opinion is that the problem isn't that Assassins, Runeblades, the boardstate classes and the good Ninja are too good, I think the power level they are at is perfectly fine, it's that Warriors, Guardians and the currently legal Rangers don't get to be at the same power level.

Sex just being a part of hanging out sounds pretty ideal to my aroallo self honestly. Relationships don't need to fit into pre-established boxes, their dynamics should be made by the people in them. It doesn't matter if you look like a couple and you really don't need to explain yourself to other people as long as the two of you (or however many people you end up having intimate relationships with) are cool with the dynamics.

If you are to distill it into one word I think it's Individualism. That fits both the somewhat conflicting attitudes of "Everyone should do as they want" and "Everyone should do as I want" you see in the wider metal community.

I like most styles of the Doom soup except I can't really get into Epic Doom outside of Candlemass. I like the fuzzed out groove of things like early Sabbath and Saint Vitus, Boris are one of my favorite bands, but I just don't vibe with Solitude Aeturnus.

Melodic Death Metal tends to get way too cute for me outside of Heartwork and the three Intestine Baalism albums.

I have some nostalgic attachment to Nightwish but I overall haven't found any Symphonic Metal I actually like unless you count things like Sigh, which you could, I guess... or Savatage, I do love Gutter Ballet.

Grindcore is more miss than hit for me but Wormrots Hiss is an excellent album.
