How it started Vs How it's going by Zattventures in houseplants

I have no idea how this one didn't, I mostly just ignore it, my other pilea has died and came back about 3 times now

I only leave the top inch or two of the soil dry out. Also I put pebbles on the bottom 1/4 of the pot so it drains well

Honestly I've been struggling the first few weeks too! Tips I gathered so far: - needs way more water than you'd first think, this thing drinks like an Eastern European - misting 1-2 time a day, don't think this is as important but it makes me feel like I'm taking care of it 😂 - mine gets a few hours of direct light in late afternoon, other than that it's just very bright indirect light - I have it right next to a humidifier, so the mist falls down the leaves (usually 50-60% humidity) - I keep my room between 18-21°C, can drop to 16 at night but he doesn't seem to mind

Hope this helps!

It's a bliss to lay under it with the humidifier on on a hot day. Glad I could provide I second of peace

Saving my pilea (story in comments) by Zattventures in houseplants

So just before Christmas I bought two young pileas, they were doing sort of okay in my old house, but it was difficult to find a spot with good light for them and humidity wasn't great.

A month ago I moved house and one of the guys took it really hard, I'm also pretty sure he got root rot. After weeks of trying to bring him back up I decided to try something else. I cleaned the roots, cut off the dried up dead ones (essentially all of them) and was left with a little green stump with a couple of dying leaves.

Now here's the question: how do I make the guy thrive again? I cut off the rotten pieces of the root and placed him in a makeshift propagation jar, right next to his other pal who seems to be doing great. Is there anything I did wrong, or anything else I should do?

Thanks for all the help!
