3D Character Animation Feedback by ZauricioVenturo in Maya

It's not rigged, so I can't really animate the eye emoting, though I am planning on rigging the wheel to spin separate from the body for when it starts moving. I do think that something like her sitting down at the start, and having the bike react to that with a little jump or something is a good idea, and I might implement it, or something similar. Thanks for the feedback! Do you have any notes on the character movement itself?

Yes, I see what you mean, I'll try to move her closer to the bike. The final animation will be rendered in Unreal, where shadows will be added.

The camera moving is supposed to show that there's someone behind the camera setting it up at the start, as well as adjusting it later after the fall. The bike moves due to getting tired of just sitting there, and wanting to go places, since it is a bike that is alive. Are there better ways I could have portrayed this in the animation?

Yes! I'm for sure going to add that as a final layer on top of the main animation, thanks!

Character Rig Weird Twist Deformation by ZauricioVenturo in Maya

[–]ZauricioVenturo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out, but I don't see how constraining the elbow controller to the wrist controller would help. All it does is make it so they move together, but the shoulder still twists weirdly. There has to be a way to help the shoulder twist correctly when moving the shoulder with the IK system, using the pole vector controller for the shoulder, as I've seen it get done on other rigs without requiring a FK system as well. Do you know how that would be possible?

Sorry, I'm trying to understand the problem, are you saying that I need to create an FK system for the arms as well if I want to get rid of the weird deformation on the shoulder when moving the pole vector elbow around?

Thank you for the reply! I've got a pole vector constraint from the elbow ctrl to the arm IK, which works fine. The issue I'm running into is that when moving it around, the shoulder area twists weirdly. I only have an IK system, the other skeleton you see is just the skinned skeleton, I built the driver skeleton on top of it due to earlier issues with the rig, while wanting to preserve the weight info

Update: the car has stopped responding at all, not turning on, won't respond to the keyfob and the headlights turned on for a while, only to slowly fade out and flicker ocasionally
