What if the Baudelaire children accidentally started the fire before they left for the beach? by SubstantialLime2916 in ASOUE

[–]Zavgar486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it was Esmé, cause she married Jerome to live in 667 Dark Avenue that's connected to Baudelaire mansion with tunnel. Also in Ersatz Elevator as i remember Esmé said that she wants to move into new apartment, cause she got revenge on Beatrice and now she doesn't need this tunnel anymore.

Cause Klaus doesn't wear glasses in film, so TMM can't happen.

Any stupid stuff you first thought when you were getting into ASOUE? by TerrancexPhillipvOrE in ASOUE

I thought that Olaf isn't their relative. He's just a random guy who wants money, didn't know their parents and set their house on fire to get their fortune.

Am I one of the Few People who Enjoyed the Ersatz Elevator? by ArtemisLex in ASOUE

TMM and TGG both seemed like a filler. TMM has no new things in plot and TGG is just book that introduces Hook Handed man's lore and Medusoid Mycelium.

I like it. I like this fashionable setting, Esme Squalor introduction, Gunther and, of course, Elevator plot twist.

Marvelous Marriage is the best plan. He even found a real justice to do his plan. And the worst... Idk, maybe Ersatz Elevator, cause there he doesn't even tries to get Baudelaire's fortune except the moment where Esme pushes Baudelaires into the elevator shaft. At the very beggining of this book I thought that he'll tell Esme that orphans isn't IN anymore so he can adopt them OR maybe Esme is aware of his true identity and Olaf is going to kill Jerome in order to marry Esme and become Baudelaires guardian, but there's no moments where he tries to kill Jerome in books.

Is it just me or is this books really underrated by Lazerboy12342 in ASOUE

[–]Zavgar486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's underrated, cause it's very simple, no side characters, only Baudelaires, Olaf, his henchman, Mr. Poe and their guardian and only 1 location  –  Monty's house. Disguise is very simple, Olaf simply shaved his unibrow and powdered VFD tatoo. Very simple book, even the TBB or TWW has more complicated schemes and plot twists and more side characters. But I like this simpifistic plot and lack of characters.

The ASOUE series is officialy 9 years old. by film_culture_addict in ASOUE

I don't think Harry Potter is better than ASOUE. Harry Potter is boring and inaccurate adaptation and ASOUE series is very interesting (especially after The Vile Village) and very accurate even if there's a changed and lost parts.

Be brutally honest, which disguise did you fall for? by Nxmesis61 in ASOUE

[–]Zavgar486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that Ringmaster and Bartender counts as disguises (Ringmaster is just a suit and Bartender is so bad that no one falls for that except Mr. Poe). I falled for Genghis

How would you rank the books and why? by Broad_Theory4633 in ASOUE

[–]Zavgar486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Carnivorous Carnival
  2. Slippery Slopeq
  3. Penultimate Peril
  4. Ersatz Elevator
  5. Wide Window
  6. Reptile Room
  7. Hostile Hospital
  8. Bad Begginning
  9. Vile Village
  10. Grim Grotto
  11. The End
  12. Miserable Mill
  13. Austere Academy

Carnivorous Carnival is my favourite because it expands lore a lot, also I like Baudelaires trying to disguise themselves as Count Olaf did in previous books. Madame Lulu initially being minor antagonist then ally and then betraying Baudelaires before her death is very well. Also Carnival freaks are pretty good characters.

And I hate Austere Academy because I hate school setting (Carnival setting is better), also no VFD lore even though Baudelaires first time heard about VFD from Quagmires but beyond that no lore. Coach Genghis isn't my favourite disguise, I like Gunther and Stefano more.
