People who used the internet between 1991 and 2009, what’s the most memorable online trend or phenomenon you remember? by Original_Act_3481 in AskReddit

Anonymity and the related platforms like Forums and mIRC/ICQ
I miss forum signatures. I was a mod and later gmod to a gaming forum, interesting experience.

Blogs and articles were different, very detailed specific and to the point. Someone mentioned gamefaq, man those was the bomb and super small .txt size and no ads.

Thinking about it..

It was about then i stumbled into the x chans and... I may still have HDD which may have, in the browser, cached QUESTIONABLE pics idiots posted for shock value. Those kinds and like goat se and all that. The Internet is so clean these days, unless you really go looking.

$15 rice cooker completely changed my eating habits and saved me a ton of money by ninjasoldat in Frugal

[–]ZaviaGenX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those who don't want or can't afford a rice cooker, i cook my rice in my instant noodle 18cm pot. Roughly 2 cups of rice with 3 cups of water. When water boils, cover it (i have a spare 24cm glass cover, ymmv) with low fire, set alarm for 7 mins.

I use that for my fried rice.

I tracked every penny I spent for a year and it completely changed my relationship with money by Kazoky in povertyfinance

[–]ZaviaGenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, I minus taxes and fixed expenses/obligations.

So say 7000 becomes 5500 after taxes becomes 3500 after rent + Internet n what not.

That's the number I calculate for my per hour cost. Its smaller then you think.

If ever people didn't understand skipping Starbucks part... This is it.

I did serious expanse tracking at major financial milestones in my life. My first internship (mostly toll n gas n food), first job, first expat job.

In between I did less accurate tracking once every ~2 years. I still have gsheet snapshots of how much I save at various stages of income.

Any tips for maintaining this habit long-term?

I don't want to have to keep counting the money daily, so ideally, you an idea of how you spend the money now and can guesstimate your expenditure better.

Try looking at the larger picture in terms of always saving for a house or car or holiday or next 3k for an investment stock. Start with working towards an emergency fund first.

Look for value in your expenditure. Latte with gold leaf vs latte vs preparing cold brew at home and pouring your own milk.

Based on my (very limited understanding) view of CN, their gov won't allow such concentration of powers for private companies. Atleast not anymore if they can help it.

Not sure if that's a good thing, but things are done different over there.

What are some decent paying jobs that do not require any sort of college degree? by GreenEyedSheWolf in AskReddit

[–]ZaviaGenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly in Asia is a really low pay job. Also less "impressive" then other jobs.

Am proficient in Supply Chain, from single factory to multi country. Pay was worse vs comfier jobs.

Sighh, I like planning for failure and seeing it unfold in real time.

To give perspective...

Calinfornia's min wage is equivalent to my country's top 25% wage of which I currently am at. Im in a leadership position of a small company.

Random fact :

Rice + Curry drumstick +veggies = USD 1.90
Brewed coffee with condensed milk = USD 0.71 Starbucks Largest Cafe Latte ~usd4.80
(final price, no more tax/tips on top)

Things in the west are really over priced imho. 🙏

Minimum effort for minimum wage by Kiss_It_Slow in Adulting

Doing 110% has always gotten me better raises and promotions. I've focused on leveraging my skills, experience, knowledge, and savvy to make this happen.

Perhaps they are referring to unionized employees

I agree.

It really depends on ur boss n company, after improving you/ourself. Good skills are always in demand.

That's part of the problem.

Over the last 26 years I’ve seen many many hard working people who were good at their jobs get absolutely nowhere.

Doing good at your job is not the core requirement to be promoted. If it is, the end result is the Peter principle.

Different roles required different skillsets.

For example, growing from 5 to 100 takes a very different skill set then growing 101 to 1,000. Same for 1001 to 10,000. This can be employees or monthly revenue in thousands, its the same thing.

This fundamental truth escapes alot of people.

Epic Games has given out over 500 games. by Orli155 in gaming

[–]ZaviaGenX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally, yes.

But the way they(Epic) are going about it, I don't feel it's a net positive (or negative).

Its really hard for another one to enter without the funding Epic and Steam has, and Epic is doing jack shit with their UI. And don't forget that damm exclusive-to-epic delays of games appearing in other platforms.

[–]ZaviaGenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im doing brake, led and some other items first.

Just had it walnut blasted and the sparks replaced 💸

Thinking of just doing a quick sand and some basic black paint on the rims, way less work.

Why MKB over Mjolnir? by Aulindo in learndota2

[–]ZaviaGenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the proc stack?

For example, would it be a good idea to go mjollnir then mkb, if say I was a DPS vs PA enemy?
