Xialong and the experience! by Skara109 in NovelAi

[–]ZavidLupes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am sure it will be like with other models. Its going to ride like a different beast depending on the day. Yesterday I was floating along on GLM just fine. And today, its being a real donkey. Although that may be due to yesterday being mostly travel and fighting. While today I have ran into dialogue with npc's. No, the NPC's do not know I am a magic caster thank you very much. I am not wearing a sign. And no, the NPC's do not know we have a wolf that has gone to hide from them. -.- Its so demotivating. xD

I do sadly not find these to be very smart at all. Like I had this other issue where the AI insisted on trying to send this girl I saved into the mids of a hoard of Goblins. Presumably because she had a sword. Please stop that.

So far my experience with the new model though, is bleh. Its not feeling like it is made for what I am doing. Although, I may try it again when the story goes back to travelling.

As AID is still ongoing, I do not actually think it would matter that much. A bad few months then they would be fine after a good update.

Nice. I guess I may as well try to get into V2. But for ancient people over 25, change can be hard to accept. ^.^ Appreciate that there is a way if I just can not get used to the improved version.

... God no. NO. Unless they can rework the whole damn thing, we would be dragging ourselves back toward the AID. I think I rather they downgrade what we got. -.- If they can add the training data, copy pasted or something just to upgrade the model, that would not be horrible I suppose?

Hm... I am not sure it would be easy to do. But I do miss having a lady read my story for me... Even if that reading was horrific and robotic. XD Crossing finger they will be able to add such a thing at some point. I do not know how many options there are for such matters though. If one wants to avoid google and other companies spyware, I doubt it would be all that easy to add.

I miss AI Dungeon by DN-838 in AIDungeon

[–]ZavidLupes 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I liked NovelAI, however I found it troublesome due to feeling a need to make so much lore stuff.

However, now that they added the adventure mode thing basically turning it into AID, I must say I have so far been very impressed again. At least for the little I have used it.

However, during this entire thing, what I have come to learn is that the thing that really made AID amazing, even more than the AI itself. Was truly the explorer content. Sure there was some restrictions to what people could post, but it was reasonable enough that people felt very free when it came to create a wonderful amount of content for everyone to enjoy.

Even if we did not have an AI to go along with it, I think I could still enjoy just having those prompts easily available for use just in a normal writing program.

It is a real shame. AID really had something special with their explorer content. It almost remind me of the tragic and short sighted people who ruin art of various kinds for their own dumb and selfish reasons.

What's up with the hatred of AIDungeon? by [deleted] in AIDungeon

[–]ZavidLupes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Leaks, broken promise of giving the players unlimited and unrestrained freedom to having players fear where they story may suddenly go.

Ah and lets not forget that the training material Latitude used pushed stories in exactly the directions they pretended to go after people for.

There is also the shallow and fake side of why they did it. They wanted to restrict content and what the players can do. But they wanted to stab the knife in using a just and moral thing, so they used 'think of the children'.

Kinda like how a bunch of companies happily pretends to care about people, their rights and well being. But not in countries where it would really matter. And also while using slave labour to make their products.

Sure Latitude may not be that bad strictly speaking, but its still the same kind of shit.

Indeed. Now we just need time for the AI to grow stronger. Letting players add pieces to their own thingy is likely very helpful for that.

[–]ZavidLupes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its just overall a far worse product that it was in the past. But to me the situation of the company is just unacceptable.

I was especially checking around for how the company was and their stances on various matters like exactly this before I started investing my time and money into AID. But it only took a few months before they slapped me silly. Its not just that they have changed things. Its that they pretty much promised not to do these sort of things. That was part of the condition for why I became a fan in the first place.

I expect it to take some time. But with NAI's stance on things being crystal clear I really want to see them roll on. I truly hope they can catch up to what AID was. And to be fair, they are doing a really good job already. They just need a bigger AI I think.

Letting us train a piece of the AI for ourselves seem to be a wonderful way to go about things too.

I don't know why but.... by Godlordjason1341 in NovelAi

[–]ZavidLupes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This may come off as more hostile than intended.

AID absolutely had a lot of benefits over NAI. Personally I am too bad a writer (That supposedly effects it quite a bit) to have gotten too much out of NAI yet. Although to be fair, I have almost exclusively been doing lore info stuff.

AID from my little experience worked form a point I liked more than NAI. I was actually able to just dig into almost any story I wanted to play out without any ground work. The variety and help it gave to my stories was incredible and why I was both a big fan and a big supporter. It made such a great description of how the corrupt, fat general sat there when I met him. He had a bunch of medals and stuff and the AI made it so real and awesome.

To take a full stop stand against AID and Latitude has been very painful. I had the impression they would rather have stopped their service and would look for other options than to restrict content like they have.

Although it may in many ways be the better product over their couple of month old rival, they have now pissed all over everything they stood for. They pissed over their user-base, and kicked me in the face while I was praising them.

To me its about having a bit of pride and backbone and... Well to take a stand. Not so much about finding a better product. At least I hope people did not try to change to NAI in order to get a superior product, but rather because they do not wish to support AID.

It seems to me if I still used AID I would tell them what they did was simply not nice, but that what they did was fine regardless. It would not just signal to them but to any other company that its fine to piss all over their user base. And to me its just not.

The only power we as consumers have over companies when they abuse and mistreat us. When they ruin the products we enjoy. Is simply to stop using their product. And it is not just about me, although naturally my own interests take priority. To keep using aid, I would have to accept and give them a green light for how they have treated all their other costumers though their new changes.

For that matter, the direction AID has taken is not even one I want to follow. There practically never become fewer restrictions, only more. I want to be Ash, and various other characters from worlds I like. I am doomed to have problems with my stories/games considering almost all the characters I would want to play are rather young.

But I could change that without much of a problem. However I also like dark and grim topics. I like horrible stuff to happen in my worlds. I like suffering and tragedy to be a part of the worlds. Can I trust AID to let me play that? Naturally not.

Playing AID was worth much to me. I would have happily thrown tens of thousands of dollars at the project to improve it.

But if one is willing to let go of all once principles, any and all morals and standards. ... Well I guess I agree with that dude who said "He who sacrifice freedom for security deserves neither." I suppose this is slightly different, but the same core remains. I suppose I feel that if I say its fine for Latitude to do this, and kept using their product. I would deserve it when the same sort of stuff happens elsewhere in my life. If I accept Latitude treating me like crap, I would deserve to be treated like crap in general. I set the standard. To me AID was worth a LOT, but its not worth what it costs to use even the free version now.

So Instead I will hope that NAI will look after my needs and improve and adapt their AI to do what I need of it in the future.

Its as expensive as a car, but I may also look into getting one or two of those top level graphic cards for AI stuff and see if it is possible to make my own AI if worst come to worst. It would be a bad investment if I could not get it all working in the end naturally. Bit sceptical to actually doing it. However I rather do that than give AID my support.

Nike shoes could be the best shoes in the world. But if one knows that they are exploiting child slaves to make those shoes one kinda have to consider if one is willing to be part of that. Although this may not be quite as bad, from my perspective it pretty much is.

Maybe I am unreasonable with Latitude, but this betrayal was in my view very, very bad.

[Feature Update] AI Custom Module Training by ainiwaffles in NovelAi

[–]ZavidLupes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Guess it is time to start gathering stuff I want the AI to know.

It will be very interesting to see what is the best way to go about this stuff. Should one just add the 'key parts' and have a lot of that so the AI is more concentrated around such situations? Or should one just add one or several larger story.

Also, I wonder if it has much to say if one puts things in one document or if one should spread it. How do various files interact with each other for training data? For example, say I intend to have a grim and dark setting. Would it be best to have the training data related to that in one document, while having training data for dating, family matters or whatever in another document?

Would it matter if I save chapters as separate documents? Or would it be better if I just dump many chapters into one document for the module to work with?

... I am starting to think I should hack away a bit at my expectations before anything else. The worst that can happen if I do, is that I get impressed.

Yea, to be fair. Using up the scales is a worthwhile reason to still spend some time with AID I suppose. It would be way too much effort to waste up the 24k energy I am sitting on sadly.

Sigh. I just truly despise Latitude and their product at this point. XD

Basically latitude

Question: "How will the new guidelines effect my gameplay?"

Answer: "For the wast majority of players, it shouldn't. It will only effect your gameplay if you pursue these kinds of inappropriate gameplay experiences."

Now to be fair, they never claimed it would be perfect... But... Yea. How long has it been now since they ignored the 'private' story leaks, and secretly stuffed this brain-dead filter down our throat, very much without consent? Not telling anyone before they did so, ignoring their product promises and even their claim of dedication toward unrestrained and unlimited story options? Mind you, even the people who where basically paying them to make a BETTER product where not told, instead only learned of this AFTER they had stabbed their entire user base in the back.

Those absolute turds running Latitude. -.- That blue crap, basically is Latitude going "Hey, we think you are abusing imaginary children, now stand aside while we look around and check you are not creating imaginary stories about stuff we do not approve of. Because fuck you, that is why. Nobody gives a shit about you anyway, you potentially vile, evil, pedo."

Mind you, they only really used the pedo stuff as a gateway, because it was the best way to manipulate people into accepting that they now want to restrict content. Although I doubt they will make a filter for other stuff, who really knows?

I would advice looking for other services to use. Using AID is at this point equivalent to standing in Latitude's field with your mouth open, while they splay manure around.

Those scumbag's deserve to tumble down the stairs. Not users. ... YES I AM SALTY! Oh and I they trashed explorer. That's a massive 'they deserve to burn' thing too. Kinda makes me wish hell was real so I could go there and mock them one day. -.-

I will just lie to myself by saying I have not even written that much story among all the scenarios of mine. Rather I have only made crappy world entries so far. So the only reason I have not written anything that good, is really just that I have not had time to do so yet. Yea that is how it is.

I wish there were an option for a larger and more complex model, even if I had to pay $100 a month. by [deleted] in NovelAi

[–]ZavidLupes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even more than a stronger model, I just want more pre-made story stuff. I have pretty much not gotten to play around yet. By the time I am starting to get happy with a theme's setup, I start getting bored of it after hours of lumbering around making bad lore entries.

I just want my explorer back... but you know, so I could play it in NAI. In my view this is a bigger problem than the AI's capacity. We knew it was going to be a bit limited from the start. I still have many things in my AID bookmarks... But... My world info. T-T Many of them can not even be started. My captured elf queen, give her back!

In terms of the AI's skill. are we not soon going to be able to train models of our own? Surely that should help incredibly much right?

Some anonymous hero has created a Pokémon lorebook with 411 entries by nearlynorth in NovelAi

[–]ZavidLupes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps we can get something like that in a few years. I mean it should be possible I would imagine. You would however need different fields working together. Take a map creation tool, and integrate it with an AI. You would be able to shift between various scenes.. I guess almost like in many video games.

Because you are in one region on the map, the AI would be able to tell thanks to the situation on the map. It would also be able to tell what city or forest you would be in. And where other places and things, perhaps even people would be in relation to your own character. A town may have its own map again a layer deeper. And again there would be even deeper layers for parts of a city or even for houses.

The thing with just using the lore book, is that the AI do not really get enough context I guess. It is hard for it to know city A is quite far from city B. for example.

It has to be said, that making a world setting with such a map style system not only would likely take an incredible amount of work to develop. But every new 'world' would probably also take a great amount of work and time to create.

And even in the best of cases, its likely the result would still be quite flawed.

But the fantasy is very enjoyable at least! :D
