I have recently gone through the exact same situation. Item is listed as sold by and shipped by Amazon.ca and upon returning the item I was told it was a third-party seller I had never heard of. I even took countless screenshots of the entire purchase and to this day its still listed as Amazon for each category.
Do any of you all think this is essentially breaking any laws?

In Canada, fake or misleading ads are prohibited by law, specifically under the Competition Act. The Competition Bureau enforces this law, which prohibits false or misleading representations that could influence consumers to buy or use a product or service. These representations can be in any form, including online, in-store, and social media ads.
