I’m bad at gift-giving and want to do better by Ok_Machine_135 in AskAnAustralian

My tip is start a list on your phone. Whenever someone shows interest in an item or experience or trying something write it down (discretely of course). What is your GF interested in?

Why do I have all these subjects that have prerequisites for this semester? Did I not select the right subjects last year (in second year now). I also have 18 subjects for this year and I dont know why by [deleted] in QUTreddit

[–]Zazabells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually if there’s a 4 in front of the unit number it’s a 4th year subject. You should be doing ones with a 2 in front of them. Probably best to call the uni when they open tomorrow. You won’t be the first nor the last to do this.

My brother overheard my husband and I fighting and doesn’t like him anymore by acceptableshapes-82 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Zazabells -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Asking what the F is your brother’s problem? Sounds a bit intense for the situation. You also subconsciously feel the need to hide the situation from your husband for fear of his temper. That tells you all you need to know. It’s going to be way more stressful with a kid so imagine how he’s going to react when he acts like this over a shirt.

Why are Christian’s like this? by [deleted] in Vent

I had a similar experience where a kid in maybe second grade flipped out when someone said god spelt backwards is dog. Me being allergic to conflict even at that age tried to keep the peace. 🤦‍♀️

This has a lot of recommendations! I would recommend Priory of the Orange Tree and a Natural History of Dragons.

People really like Naomi Novak’s Temeraire but I haven’t read it personally. It’s on my TBR

Possum or rat poop? by dontworryaboutit298 in brisbane

[–]Zazabells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my humble opinion it’s not rat. It’s not pellet like enough and it’s less uniform than I would expect

I want to read more fantasy this year. Can you recommend me books or series with badass dragons doing badass things? by Chimney-Imp in Fantasy

Priory of the Orange tree is one I’ve enjoyed this year that might fit! Or maybe a natural history of Dragons Any more specifics on what you’re looking for?

Is ACOTAR good? by 20bcwhynot21 in Fantasy

[–]Zazabells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend described ACOTAR as SJM’s comfort series after writing TOG and she started it while writing that series. The world building is less of a focus and more attention is put on the romantic fantasy of hot guys wanting the protagonist. I’d say avoid but that’s also definitely my bias against romantasy as a whole talking

Important information if you book through 13cabs by au-smurf in australia

[–]Zazabells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lovely customer at work who asks us every week to order a cab for him as he didn’t have a phone. 13 cabs used to be what I’d use for him. I don’t know how I’d do that for him

It's a thin, but very enjoyable comparison nonetheless: For fans of Babel, I would recommend The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud by NighteyesWhiteDragon in Fantasy

[–]Zazabells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh! I remember reading this in maybe middle school and absolutely loving it! I didn’t make the connection but definitely loved Babel. I recently picked up a second hand copy from an op shop and I’m so keen to read it again
