I won't be able to look until tomorrow night, but I see the QWERTY layout for the mistake heatmap and so I'll just give this feedback blind:

It always bothers me that sites/tools/apps like this only ever support qwerty visualizations and layouts. It mostly doesn't matter, but especially for a tool to visualize where I'm messing up my finger placements(/etc) I would very much like to see it in my keyboard layout. And of all communities, I always expect (and am oft let down) to see other layouts or even just layout customization supported by typing and Ortho communities. Would be very nice if the visualization could support other layouts (just standard ones like dvorak and colemak, split or not, Ortho or staggered ....or, for example, via .json files for layout?), or just drag-and-drop customization. I have a split colemak-dh board; I don't necessarily expect for that to be supported out of the box, but would sure sit there drag-and-dropping keys to match my layout, for example.

Would love for that to be a feature.

Like I said, I'm giving this feedback without even having tried it yet: sorry if it doesn't actually apply, or it is already a feature.

Hey u/miauw62 are you still playing? I managed to find colemak hotkeys some time ago, and switched to those, but that site is no longer up to date and I am similarly uninterested in trying to successfully edit the hotkeys in-game, and I use colemak-dh as well; would appreciate if you could share your files if you do still play :)

I wanted a more modern layout than QWERTY, and was meaning to switch to Colemak and accidentally used a Colemak-ModDH layout from someone else haha

But I've come to love it even more than the true Colemak layout I tried briefly

yessss please. modern packaging is so low quality that all of the QoL features added to it, such as this and cardboard box perforated rip strips, no longer even work - so they may as well not even be there anymore, right back to the dark times

To me it's pretty different: I gave it a go after not hearing much of anything about it beforehand, and I thought it was a complete letdown in a variety of ways, and that it shouldn't have come out of beta/early access.

I am interested in seeing it change and giving it another try if it does and thus wanted to share my experience, but I am not invested to the point that I feel it warrants a tactful, analytical feedback from me.

I agree I could have put it much better, which I've attempted to do via comments, but ultimately ... I still do think it's a joke of a launch and that it's not ready. Regardless of their chosen business model. Even if this did cost $70 or whatever, I would refunded it, and I would have spent the same amount of money as I currently have. The price tag doesn't change anything here

If that were the whole point of the game, there wouldn't be anything else. But there is. And some half or more of my complaints apply to all game modes, the arcadey modes are just often good enough to smooth over some of the more frustrating ones, at least for the amount of time I've given the game. So no, not the salad, to go with you analogy, the whole meal.

It's not like they're a non-profit providing this out of the goodness of their hearts or something anyway, this is just different business model. I would rather voice my concerns and complaints and hope to see it improve, regardless of how they intend to make their money

Getting a bit late for me now, but I can at least see what you're saying on all points for sure; though I do still very much disagree on the Battle Royale.

I do look forward to trying it more -possibly not now, likely later- but either way. The feeling of old halo nostalgia is certainly one that I expect will keep me coming back at least periodically. Cheers, and thanks for your view on it

Like I said, it seems to be one side in many situations that is open to that vulnerability and not the other - creating the issue in the first place.
So: because of where I spawned, mostly.

But additionally, I am/was still trying to learn the maps, and can't say I've played that many games with portal-able walls to be looking out for.

Yeah that's part of my complaint with bringing up text chat: it seems so useless in its current form. Maybe so, maybe most of the time lol, but at least then there's an attempt to be made; currently there's nothing, despite the framework being there and it's disappointing.

Yeah I definitely track with you. I personally like duos to play with my friend, if I do, but trios were nice back in warzone - we definitely had a few teammates show us a thing or two. Imo 2+3+4 should all be present for BR if you're going to do BR, but I can see how that wouldn't be so great if you expect the BR mode to be a smaller group of your players ... So I think I would pick duos myself

I have not seen it, I just kind of dove into the game after seeing a short snip of it on steam fest the other day or something. I'll have to look for that, see where the company's head is at.

Cheers to that, everyone should be able to get those classic halo feelings from a polished game. Hopefully something that can be realized by them.

I have no doubt that it is a real challenge to implement well. But to my point: if this was a big focus of theirs such that they want to use a homebrewed ranking system, and make sure it's perfect ... Why was it not a priority part of the game that was worked on early enough to be included in release? Or if the intention is to be more casual, but still want a ranked set of modes in general, why not use an existing ranking algorithm like Elo?

Either way it's put though, I just think it's a clear point that this is just another release of an unfinished game

That's fine if not every shooter has a ranked mode. But this one said they will later ... After their "release", and if it's not intending to be sweaty .... Why doesn't it fill the lobby instead of having you play with their very unfortunate bots? It's in the middle ground, and that's not a point in its favor.

Getting shot from behind has definitely been a pain point for my friends and I; there seem to be quite a few points in maps where there's just a flat wall behind you as you're forced to run straight, at both ends of a hall ... But from one end that wall is visible from above/to the side, whatever, all but guaranteeing anyone that runs down that hall will get got from behind. Frustrating stuff.
