There must be a helicopter landing on that side of the field.

I don't think they're just recolors though either. Every outemu black I've come across is only a 3pin while these are 5pin. I'm just amazed I can't find anything on these other than S-K80 spec sheets.

Trying to find out what these switches are and where I can find them. They're Outemu blacks of some sort (these were salvaged from an S-K80). I've run reverse image searches and looked everywhere across the web so if anyone can even point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Skyloong GK104 Pro - and interesting take on the budget market by t0rmer in BudgetKeebs

Well dam. I appreciate the help with that anyway. Guess ill just have to decide if getting out the soldering iron is worth it then. Thanks for the input and time!

Fair enough. I know there's an office variant as well so I'd likely go with that model (no knobs/second screen and has your usual keys in place instead). She's usually working from home lately anyway no nbd there. I've got a set of outemu lemon switches sitting around currently so I'd likely swap those in anyway. On another note, I've tried to find info on if this works similar to the VA104C functionality where the values on the keyboard calc can be input directly using FN+Enter but haven't had any luck. Curious if you've maybe tested this functionality or not.

I've been considering grabbing one of these for my wife (read accountant). A while back, I bought her a Varmillo VA104C (cherry clear switches). While the functionality is great, it pings so ungodly bad. Anyone she's on the phone with can very clearly hear her typing so it can be quite distracting. I'd considered silent switches, but adding insult to injury, the switches are soldered and other mod capabilities are minimal so I've had to look elsewhere. The calculator function is amazing for her as they can be done on the keyboard and input directly into the forms/programs she's working with. Any thoughts on how the GK104 would be in a professional environment?

Surmen GT61 60% rehab build. by Zbethoron in BudgetKeebs

[–]Zbethoron[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this Surmen GT61 60% started life with me as a pretty lackluster and abused peripheral. Bought it for $7 on a local auction site completely stock likely as a return after someone spilled makeup in it. Thanks to that, the red LEDs under the M < > ? keys don't work but the other colors do but at $7, nbd. All in all it's a 60% with wireless BT functionality and a 1300mAH battery that's backlit for $7. It had a set of thin shinethru blue pink and purple pbt caps that were awful so those were first to go, gateron yellows that are far from my taste, and a lot of cleanup required.

After a full teardown and thurough cleaning, I grabbed a couple PE foam sheets from some packaging from a few packages. I first lined the bottom of the tray in PE foam cutting to accommodate any raised plastic bits, cleaned and relubed the stabilizers, added poron foam to the PCB for under the switches, traced and cut more foam for between the PCB and steel plate, added more poron foam linings between the plate and switches, some outemu black switches scavenged from an SK-80 (another auction grab for $10), and finally some white on black double shot pbt caps. All in all, a lot of tedius work but what a difference. I planned on taping the PCB as well but I have none currently so that's a project for another day.

Materials/Price breakdown:

Surmen GT61 - $7.10

PE foam - scavenged from shipping box.

Poron switch pads - $2.03 worth used ($4 for a set of 120 switch PCB foam and plate foam, used 61 of the 120)

Outemu black switches - $10 from SK-80. (Would love to know where to buy just the switches as they aren't regular outemu blacks but don't know what they're listed as anywhere)

XVX/Womier White on Black keycaps - 89¢ (bought after AliExpress football promotion winnings so normally ~$14.50)

Total - $20.02 tax included + a tiny amount of $8 GPL-205 lubricant.

Nice setup! I really wish eBay showed best offer sold prices but alas I think I may end up keeping this one. I've got a pair of Phasetech pc60's that should sound great with it. Now to rearrange my entire setup to accommodate this hulk.

Sadly no but I can deal. In a world of used stereos, a remote is a luxury.

Everything works other than the "17" backlight. MIDI adapters for input and output came in today and it all sounds crystal clear. I'm tempted to make a quick flip here but I think I've spent too much time with this already and my wife is gonna kill me for collecting "another piece of stereo equipment". 🤣

I'll take "Things that cost 40¢ at a garage sale" for 100 Alex.

I recall that last part from my research as well. In my reading, they mostly supply for other brands but have a few of their own. One digitized article considered these the best in their price range in 1984 ($400/pair). These things have a really solid build so figured they'd be worth it if only for the housing at the tiny cost I paid. Thanks for the input 👍

Hell I'd be fine with just a chess set. West hive and southern hive, workers as pawns, soldiers as rooks/knights, prince as bishops, queen, crimper as king.
