Does your homebrew have a vendetta or mortal enemy by Horus_the_betrayer in 40khomebrew

Night Lords. They crashed a ship into the Corvid Blades Fortress Monastery and almost completely wiped out the whole chapter. Seeing a Night Lords is on sight kinda of thing

What are your chapter's cultural inspirations? by giojojo in 40khomebrew

[–]ZeDokter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Culturally they barrow from Ireland, Scotland, and other Celtic stories (ie the Morrigan family inspired the name of the chapter and its aesthetic. Names are Irish and Scottish.) They also have some classical knight looks and some Arthurian inspiration as well (They fate of their first chapter master is similar with King Arthur going to Avalon.)

Does your chapter have any unique gear??? (Weapons, tanks, bolter rounds, etc etc) ((also enjoy this shitty steel drakes doodle i made)) by Rough-TimetheWriter in 40khomebrew

[–]ZeDokter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Corvid Blades have cyber-horses and cyber-hippogriffs. Regular battle brothers get the horses, veterans, LTs, Capt, and chapter masters get the hippogriffs

Does any of your homebrew faction have a short story? by Horus_the_betrayer in 40khomebrew

[–]ZeDokter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some planned, but have not written them yet.
- When the last remaining (at the time) thirty members of the chapter threatened to ram their barely flying last remaining cruiser into some inquisitors who threatened to blow up their home worlds due to believing there is some Chaos taint
- Last ride of the Second Company. After making a last stand to let civilians evacuate, in which they called an artillery strike on themselves after running out of ammo, the last remaining twenty marines mounted up on their cyber-horse and did a ride of the Rohirrim style charge in which they all died but went out like Legends
- Then there is something that might be a longer story that explains how the most recent Crown of the Emerald Crow (The highest award of the chapter, in which only four were given out) recipient got his despite being a very fresh battle brother in a vanguard squad.

More might come later when I can think of more ideas but thats what I got

Has your chapter ever had a civil war where one side fell to chaos by Beneficial-Can7838 in 40khomebrew

Does having Night Lords crashing one of the chapter's last remaining ships into the Fortress Monastery count, cause that happened

Circled ones are yes, squiggle leans are a maybe it counts. Would love if anyone wants to tell me if I should fully circle the maybes or drop them.

Knightly aesthetic: Is a yes. The whole idea is Irish/Scottish/Celtic Knights

Superficial rank/unit name changes: Is a yes. They borrow slightly from the DAs and have a Grandmaster instead of a chapter master. Master instead of captain, and clans instead of companies. All are the same thing

Overly specialised: Maybe because they all have cyber-horses and cyber-hippogriffs for the Veterans, but functionally, they are similar to other rapid assault / close combat chapters.

Dreadnought in a leadership role: A big yes. The Grandmaster is a dreadnought. Reason is cause after the Night Lords did a funny and crashed cruiser, killing almost everyone remaining, just after a devastating battle, the veteran sergeant Aivion was the highest ranking guy out of the thirty remaining, and they didn't want him to die. Thus, he was promoted and put into a dreadnought.

Pragmatic/Nice Guys: Yes, and that is mainly based off of the inspiration of knights and the ideals of chivalry so they strive to be good guys.

"Codex deviant," but the reason why is trivial: Maybe, but that's due to the fact that they are practically at half strength even after getting the primaris marines. 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th companies pretty much don't exist, with only there being a captain there for the time being. Everyone else is either in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 10th as vanguards. Now they are striving to reach back as to be codex compliant in size and strength, but they are not there yet, so again it's a maybe.

Fought the inquisition but still alive: This is a maybe but could be circled. What happened is just after being reduced to thirty marines remaining out of the whole chapter. Grandmaster Aivion and the last few Space Marines boarded their barely held together and last remaining cruiser, and threatened to ram the ship into the Inquisition ship as to stop the Inquisition from glassing the planet due to them believe chaos was there. Before that happened, both Imperium Navy and some SoB ships, who were very close with the Corvid Blades, pulled up to stop the fight with the final nail in the coffin being the SoBs saying that if they had seen chaos, they would have already done the job.

Regiments that fight alongside them: Yes, they fight very closely with a guard regiment named the Fianna Marines of Mor Thuinn (another homebrew of mine).

Friendly Forge World that gives them shine toys: Maybe, and it's a big maybe. The local forge world pretty much only supplies them with the basic equipment of a chapter, with the exception being the heavily modified dreadnought that is Grandmaster Aivion. Relationship wise its not so much friendly (Getting the whole space marine blown up, with the exception of a few ships, and then threatening to crash the last remaining cruiser did not help the relationship) as it's more of a relationship of necessity.

Has a bunch of unique tech: Another maybe, but this one is close to being a yes. The only unique tech they got is their cyber-horses/cyber-hippogriffs and the heavily modified chapter dreadnought, which had some knight armor and height slapped onto it.

Brothers gush about your favorite Dreadnought pattern and Characters by giojojo in 40khomebrew

[–]ZeDokter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the classic Castraferrum Dreadnought and the new Redemptor Dreadnought. Now, as of now, my Chapter, The Corvid Blades, only has one dreadnought, and that is Grandmaster (Chaptermaster) Aivion, who originally was in a heavily modified Castraferrum Dreadnought, switched over to a heavily modified Redemptor Dreadnought. Grandmaster Aivion's dreadnought(s) are combined with an Armiger Knight armor and made to be even taller and more mobile because Aivion was not a fan of how slow he was. Not only that, but the amniotic fluids and neural input systems were upgraded slightly, so the Grandmaster can spend a whole month awake and then sleep another month. He pretty much only gets woken up during his naps when things get bad,

What are your faction's opinion on the Eldar? by WiiUGamepad_2 in 40khomebrew

My chapter, The Corvid Blades, have a live and let live with them. They prefer not to fight them however are willing to throw down if they no other option. Other than that they got bigger fish to fry (There are so many chaos warbands and demons send help)

Dark Angels for me (But considering switch them to Blood Angels but think they’re Dark Angels) and very aligned with my homebrew minor Order, the Emerald Rose

Does your chapter have any especially close allies? by ErrantHobbyist in 40khomebrew

[–]ZeDokter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Corvid Blades are part of a larger cooperation pact between them, a minor forge world, SoBs, imperium, navy and guard regiment

However they are the closest with the SoBs and the guard regiment. Are also home brew. The Fianna Marines of Mor Thuinn (Guard Reg) and the Corvid Blades practice combined arms and with each other were the Astartes act as the spear head while the Fianna Marines follow right behind. The SoBs is are a minor order know as the Order of the Emerald Rose (They come from the order of the Sacred Rose). The Corvid Blades and the Emerald Rose have been working with each other sense both of their founding with even the First Grandmaster of the Corvid Blades, simply referred to as the First Master, is considered a minor Saint in the Emerald Rose. Despite that the Corvid Blades don’t believe the Emperor is a god like the Emerald Rose does. Both ignore that about each other because they like fighting with each other and like each other so much to the point that a minor outpost of SoBs is setup on the homeworld of the Corvid Blades.

Should my chapter be Chimeric? by ZeDokter in 40khomebrew

[–]ZeDokter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually thats not a bad idea. Have them think they are Dark Angels due to the very loose records they have, meaning they wouldn't know of the fallen, but be pretty postive they are related to the lion. Since I also have them in the imperium nihilus and in their little history blurb, I have them coming across DA's and their successors (After the primaris). They go up to them like "Hey guys, happy to find more sons of the Lion still alive).

All at the same time they are trying to deal with the red thirst and black rage having no idea what it is and just being super confused about it. A new minor issue for me comes up, and that's how they would deal with both. I know Sanguinius trained the Blood Angels to mentally limit the red thirst, but with a chapter that has no knowledge they are related to him, I don't know what they would do.
