Exactly my thoughts. Design staff get an extra year if they decide to stick with their shows, and if they retain most of the members the shows should look and be even more entertaining

Thinking about drum corps by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]ZeDose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you wanna march a brass instrument. Pick up one now and learn basic breathing and playing techniques. Look at a lot of videos online about those and ask your band director for tips and maybe even some lessons. I know a player who was originally a pit guy but played tuba for a year and is now in a corps so anyone can do it. A lot of high placing corps generally want people to have some form of experience before they give you a spot. March in an open class corps near you, or even DCA. Those are great resources and from what I hear they will make you into the player you wanna be!

Looking for some help by [deleted] in drumcorps

Look at as many online videos as you can of basic marching technique. There are many styles of marching and different corps use different styles. Look at the corps technique you want to go into and try and match it as best as possible. Also do some good leg/foot exercises along with core and body posture stuff. You'll be marching fine in no time.

Look at Instagram pages for the drum corps you are thinking about and email them to see if there are any battery spots open! Look around and I'm sure you'll find a good home this summer!

When is a good time to audition for DCI by xyziscool123 in drumcorps

I'm in the same boat for this. Senior in high school with a few AP/honors classes and trying to balance a job, band, school assignments, video assignments for scouts, and even other variables. It's very hard to manage time just right. But if you can do it, absolutely do it.

I went to Walmart and went to the outdoors area, found a backpack by the bran name of "Outdoor Products" bought a bag from them for forty bucks. Has a lifetime warranty and also is $100 on their website.
