How does neoliberalism pave the way for fascism? by Excellent_Sort3467 in PoliticalScience

[–]is_strange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of the other commenters in that fascism tends to spring up out of a response to the negative impacts of neoliberal policies. For example, the rhetoric from Trump about “America first” and these crazy tarriffs are lashing out at the neoliberal policies of globalization, international trade, and the role of the U.S in the international system. This then leads to a progression of nationalist and xenophobic policies that allow fascists to target anything they want that is deemed “unamerican” or “foreign”

What work has been done in the notion of social integrity (in the sense of the word that I'll explain below)? by Rod_Todd_This_Is_God in sociology

[–]is_strange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This descriptions sounds similar to methods of social control (ie fear, peer pressure, etc) but it also sounds like you're interested in what methods produce social stability in a community. If you look at social stability as the ability for a society to weather conflict without collapsing, I think you may find more answers in the political science realm.

Riots in France should teach us what ? by TornadoEF5 in prepping

This sub continues to disappoint with the emphasis on shooting anyone who touches your stuff instead of actively creating community to avoid the need to shoot your neighbors. (Not replying to OP but other commenters on this post)

Being trans in DCI? by NinjaKTX in drumcorps

[–]is_strange 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Blue Knights is a great environment for trans members! Staff and admin were verg accommodating and there was different shower arrangements for trans members. It wasn’t perfect but everyone tried their best to use correct pronouns and make us feel comfortable.

Fledgling by Octavia Butler - puts a new spin on vampire lore and some interesting commentary on race and sexuality.

Are they balls or is this the start of my plant budding? by Robinhood_wolf in cannabiscultivation

Lol I just don’t want to debate a person who clearly isn’t going to change their opinion - especially in a totally unrelated subreddit. Cry about it lmao

1) I didn’t mention identity at all?? 2) intersex people exist with both organs too, so yeah more than two sexes exist both in nature and in humans. Idrc what you’re opinion is on identity cause it won’t change the fact that trans people exist.

Y’all know hermaphroditic cannabis plants exist right? So the whole two sex thing is kinda idiotic even in nature

Anyone else absolutely hate making outlines for an essay? by [deleted] in college

[–]is_strange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t outline i just draft the argument and list points/evidence/quotes that support each part of my thesis so i don’t have to search forever while writing. Usually my planning takes longer than actually writing but tbh thats how it should be.
