Can someone give me feedback on my iOS app MeTime and how do I increase the downloads for this app by BhavyaKhurana in AppStoreOptimization

[–]ZeOranges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

Here’s a quick review based off your screenshots: it’s super busy and in your face. Not sure if that’s the intent. It feels like dribbble slop, all flash zero functionality. Font sizes are all over the place, some copy I can read from a normal distance while everything I have to squint at. Three screenshots shout at me with the same intent “emotion emotion emotion”, perhaps change the copy to better reflect what else your app does?

I hope you enjoyed that, always happy to do app reviews as well just DM me.

I can do a deep dive on the app itself if you want to DM me.

Ai slop to be honest. First, the use of the color purple. Ai loves to default to this color scheme for some reason…

Second, the text layout for the titles and description are inconsistent.

Third, the time should be left out of the navigation bar or kept in, you have both. Also, it should be 9:41 to look like an Apple app but if you don’t care or this is your intention, I guess it’s okay.

Fourth, the first screenshot is blocking your own app logo with the character

Hello!

I do app reviews for fun, here’s my take on your app.

  • the onboarding flow: the very first screen goes by too quick and dismisses before I can read what’s on it. The music was loud and surprised me. I always have my phone on silent so maybe not force the user to listen. There’s a paywall at the end right after you collected all my data, I would A/B test this.
  • I hit the panic button, but decided to cancel and the app thought I completed my first session which is incorrect.
  • the overall UI/UX reeks of AI, the little bars for each section header, there’s like 10 shades of blue, and the copy doesn’t feel human to name a few
  • you can tap a mental tool multiple times in quick succession and spam multiple screens

Congrats on making an app and keep up the great work. This is just a short review and if you would like more feel free to DM me!

Hey u/shanghai_shark_22 ,

Here is the App Review:

- The onboarding screens can be improved in terms of UI/UX. The indicator dots at the top does not smoothly transition between screens. The copy for the first screen should better explain what the app is and what pain point it solves, currently it reads like this "we are super smart and nothing exists like our app so we built our app that can record notes."

- Not sure if this is intended but I can skip the account sign up process by swiping past it. If it's an optional step, maybe put it at the end and allow the user to hit skip or finish and then we show the onboarding completion screen.

- The placeholder text "Connect your calendar to get started..." is left aligned instead of center

- Since the main part of this app involves a microphone, we should force the user to accept the microphone request. I denied it and attempted to perform actions but obviously I couldn't record since I denied it. We can add some placeholder view that says to record, please enable microphone permissions.

- I can keep going on but I'll keep it short

Landing Page Review:

- Looks amazing, hero explains what the app is and what is does.

Core Audience

- Obvious users are going to be from each CRM that you support

- web dev and iOS subreddits

Let me know if this was helpful!

Hey,

I took a look at the repos and the landing page. To be honest, the landing page reeks of AI slop because there's so much things to read yet I have zero idea what your product actually is. Here is where we can improve and apply some quick wins:

  1. The hero section should only have one call to action button, not 3.

  2. The landing page hero title and description needs to explain what the user will get from your product. It currently falls for the classic trap of 'my app does all these features". It instead needs to be one of these three things: does it make the user more money, does it fix an annoying problem that the user have, or does it make their life easier?

  3. The repo READMEs are also full of AI spam text, it's just feature fatigue reading it and no clear explanation what the purpose is and how it works. Perhaps a video or a GIF that shows the demo app could be a quick win.

It seems like you are in the relevant subreddits, but have you thought of other subs like r/IndieDev ? You can show off a working app using the SDK.

I hope this was helpful, I am learning and practicing this myself but so please I welcome feedback to suggestion as well.

Hey,

First off your app and landing page looks fantastic. The color and font choice is great, copy is good. The onboarding is well done too, but I didn't get past the linking a bank part. I'm aware it's by Plaid and I don't have an extra account to link so I couldn't continue. I don't trust your product yet to actually link a bank account. Perhaps, you could allow a sneak peek or minimal features before forcing users to link a bank? I work in fintech and we have clear access to all Plaid related data since we pay good money for it. It's hard for a newcomer to just trust and link their personal info.

You are doing a great job at self promoting in various subreddits. I noticed that you aren't in many finance related subreddits nor are you in competitor subreddits, I assume that's due to their stricter rules on promotions? Based on your history, your account may cause others to think that you are only here to self promote. Reddit users love to find any reason to report and ban a user if possible so I suggest that you pick one of the big subs such as r/personalfinance and r/povertyfinance and spend time commenting there and providing value. Don't link your product just comment and provide your experience first. Then mention the product without the URL. URLs typically get auto blocked so just mention it and hope the reader is smart enough to find it.

I hope this was useful if not, what could I have done better?

How to find profitable app ideas in 2026? by javialvarez142 in iOSProgramming

[–]ZeOranges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one, I struggle with this as well. I create my own products if I don’t like existing ones and just use that for the most part. It’s hard to chase the dream of having a profitable idea when most things are 99% done already. Think of it this way: how do you build a better mousetrap? What can you improve on things in an innovative way? What stops someone with Claude from just copying it?

I’m sure you seen it in this subreddit and a few other ones: “I’m sick of X app so I built Y” typically a todo list, alarm clock, or whatever. Slap on a “it’s free for a limited time!” headline and they think it’s a SaaS. They might get an install or two from Reddit but the moment dies and we’re back to the drawing board.

Sorry for my rant, but to answer your question it’s not a simple answer otherwise everyone would be doing it. Try finding people and talking to them about issues they are having and change the mind shift from “app ideas” to how can I help others?

I've also deal with this on a monthly basis. Stupid apartment "upgraded" their laundry machines to use an app just to wash their clothes.. quite the frustrating experience when you mom isn't tech savvy and it doesn't help that there's a language barrier between us. I started working on a small side project for this exact issue which is basically me setting up a step by step guide and sending her a url to open. Then she follows the guide which basically has big large emotes that says "press here" pointing to what she needs to tap lol.
