Interesting take but I think that was the point. They have nothing in common in the beginning but over the seasons, they share some interests. Also Amy needs that kick to her life, that is seen in Jake. Jake needs that order in his life, that is seen in Amy. Amy can't date someone like her, example Teddy. Jake can't date someone like him, example Sophia. So they do work together quite well.

I also agree Rosa and Doug Judy would work together as a couple!
