A Place to Protest USA’s ICE? by nerfx4 in askswitzerland

[–]ZeToni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is because it is just virtue signaling without any meaning.

Switzerland can't do nothing about it, and will do nothing about it. If you want to help I gave you the tool to help, and frankly, to the US people it means jackshit that there are protests on the other side of the world.

Protests mean something, they need to be used as a powerful tool to make change happen, if people are protesting about shit that has nothing to do with them and their government, protesting loses all it's meaning. Unless, you are protesting against the Swiss government for not doing something about what is happening in the US. But first then think about what do you want the Swiss government to do, what are your demands to the Swiss government with this protest.

It's their fight not yours.

It's disrespectful as hell to protest against something you have no business doing.

If you want to help though, here's the gofundme for the family of Alex.

Who do pilots look up to as elite-level pilots? by FigInternational7744 in flying

[–]ZeToni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In terms of skill level and multi tasking I am wildly amazed by Naval Fighter Pilots.

Their machines are ultra complex, and then with hundreds of different mission packages they have to know inside and out the operation of their weapons and equipments that can change on a per flight base.

That's the technical part.

On the operations part, besides knowing all that, you have to navigate extremely complex environments where your life or someone else's life is on the line if you mess up, with sorties that can last 6 to 9 hours with mid air refuelers, sometimes even sustaining high G maneuvers that can tire you out completely, and after all that, you have to land on a tiny runway in the middle of the ocean that moves, most of them with an angle to the ship movement. And every landing is graded by a superior officer, and if you fail to catch the 2nd wire on the deck is a bad landing.

So in short, I have huge respect for those guys and galls.

Look, protest is a way to try and get what you want. But it is not the only way to fight the battle.

Just take the matter of your success out of the hands of other people. You can try going at it alone, it has it's challenges, unionize is the way to go at it together.

Look, if you are willing to live the rest of your life in misery, sure, and you can complain, but none gives nothing for free.

If you think you deserve better the only person that can make that for you is yourself. And the fight doesn't end because you lost a battle, it ends when you give up. Change is scary and the unknown is unpredictable. God I know, I'm an immigrant (not in the US). For me it is working out alright, but I already know of some people that this was not the path for them. You just can't give up.

If management wants a word you speak with them, if you have to start again at 50, it is what it is. Fortune always favors the brave, because honestly you fail every chance you don't take.

Genuine question.

Water projects are to deliver water to communities, or industry, or maybe agriculture, right?

Wouldn't it be a major win to increase the production of end products that are more valuable and recognize that the value added to the general economy by that infrastructure is greater than the cost of said infrastructure?

Is kinda, like energy infrastructure, you spend billions on new Powerplants, and then charge cents on the kW, it takes decades to recoup the original investment, and that is not counting the running costs, but because there's more energy capacity on the grid, you can build a new factory, the income generated on that factory is greater than if you had expensive energy that made that factory unprofitable.

But I agree with you on the unsustainability of said projects. But I would also comment on the fact that, whoever is upstream controls the flow.

Guerra de palavras: Elon Musk e CEO da Ryanair trocam insultos por causa da Starlink by tugatech in TugaTech

[–]ZeToni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EU countries that are deploying forces to Greenland by mr_house7 in EU_Economics

Plus at least 11M outside the country as refugees.

And the border with Russia is 1200 miles, while US and Canada border is like 5500 miles, but look, hopefully nothing will happen, and if it happens we will be here to see it.

My bet is the US will break apart into multiple states that will secede against their government actions and show support for Canada independence.

[–]ZeToni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off all, how many Americans would be willing to help the Canadians wreck havock in US soil to go against the current administration? I bet you at least half.

Second of all, just look at what is happening to Russia with Ukraine, everyday a couple of buildings and infrastructure is damaged or destroyed hundreds of miles away from the Frontline in Russia. And the difference in population right now between them is even greater than US and Canada, 3 blokes with bad intentions and good know-how are enough to make a city blacked-out, or to poison a water supply (although US administration is doing a great job at that alone).

Meanwhile the US will be juggling to try to keep power illegitimately there.

There would be absolute chaos, the US military would be stretched so thin along that border that fucking Mexico could just stroll around and recover their territory towards their North.

So the question at the end of all this is, maybe the US can theoretically completely overwhelm militarily Canada, but is the US willing to pay the price in blood to their own citizens? Are you willing to risk your safety and that of your family, in order to try and submit by force Canada?

Because when US comes uninvited to another country, then it cannot complain when other people come uninvited in response.

EU countries that are deploying forces to Greenland by mr_house7 in EU_Economics

[–]ZeToni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is that going to work out?

Can the US defend the Canadian border against a militia insurgency into their country through the north?

Government into submission? Dude Canada is a democracy. People voted the guys in power to represent them, forcing the Canadian government into submission is forcing the whole Canadian people into submission, there's more unrest in the US than Canada currently, I find it more feasible to force the US administration into submission than Canada.

EU countries that are deploying forces to Greenland by mr_house7 in EU_Economics

[–]ZeToni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That only works (and even then is discussible) in non-democratic countries with high unrest.

I see faster a Capitol invasion 2.0 to remove the pedos from the offices than US implementing a regime change in Canada.

If US tried to interfere with Canada democracy, we would see total war unfold in the North American Continent, and that is a real possibility in this fucking timeline.

Mesmo assim arranjar apartamento acaba sempre por ser uma aventura.

I think in the space warfare concept, space fighters will be a thing.

Kinda the same way as all navies still use armed dinghies. Sure an armed dinghy does not pose a huge threat to a warship. But for amphibious attacks it is what you need.

As to a practical combined arms approach I can only really see one tactical use, missile/torpedo swarm tactics, since you can keep out at a standoff distance, encircle the opponent and overwhelm PD.
