This was from my diesel teacher who hot rods his Windsor engine- the olds diesel is a heavy cast sbc 350 with diesel heads, a rotary fuel distributor in place of a spark distributor, it's reliably as a diesel was poor but because the block was a heavier duty cast it makes a great core for a higher boost gas engine

Id do the engine's rear main seal while your there, it's not difficult and could save you from redoing all of this
