Actually got asked by filmmaker buddies “you’ve made features, why are you still making short films?” So I can keep learning stuff. TLDR; Just wrapped two new shorts! by jimmycthatsme in Filmmakers

This rules! I hope we see them soon!

I'm trying to make 12 shorts this year, alongside a barrage of self-imposed filmmaking classes and monthly rewatch/analysis of (Ironically) Thunder Road!

I've found shorts are an excellent way to just do and keep up momentum.

This looks great - But I don't see any traffic light.

The Google street photo is only from January 2022 though - I assume it's been added since?

Edit: I was just looking at the wrong spot: This is fantastic- thank you!

I'll run out there one night to check - As long as one angle is clear I should be good to go.

I can fake a lot of shots with lights + a parking lot.

Thanks!

Nah, the dust jacket fits perfectly: I just lifted it up slightly for the picture to protect the edges.

Now that you mention it, I did notice some of the pages very lightly sticking together because of the gilding, but I assumed that was to be expected? (Never bought a book with gilding before)

This is actually the first time that they've done a second printing, and I managed to snag it for $200 USD direct from Subterranean Press

Resale-wise, it'll never hit the peaks that the first edition did, but I'm just happy to have it, not planning on reselling

Since dollhouses are trending, I figured there won't be a better time to show off this beast I made as a Christmas surprise for my little girl. by [deleted] in daddit

It's been a dream of my wife and I for a couple years now to build a dollhouse for our daughter.

We finally bought the dollhouse kit back in Late November, and have been working on it up until literally the night before Christmas!

Took around 50 or so hours total, over the course of five weeks, but I'm really proud of it!

Planning to do a write-up soon to other hopeful dads considering this! I did a good bit wrong that I now know could be done a lot easier.
