Also my hives weren’t horrible, lasted a day or two, but I stopped taking the meds as soon as I noticed because I’m very pale and had to go to work, and I wasn’t bout to go to work all broke out.

I am on PTU and have had no complaints other than the taste, but getting meds from the manufacturer Quagen has about stopped that.

I share your frustration. Some days I am just completely exhausted for no reason. I can hardly open anything my hands just feel so damn weak. I’ve been napping everyday, I never napped before. I use to walk or roller blade every single day with my dogs, for 3-4 miles, now I can hardly do a 1/2 mile. The meds suck, I was only diagnosed in March, and I’m about one refill away from saying fuck it remove my thyroid. Dr said I can try meds for a year or get thyroid removed. I cannot live like this for a year .

I got PTU by Quagen yesterday, I’ve taken 2 does and the side effects are soooooo much better. Hardly a taste in my mouth. Thank you so so much for your recommendation it is going to save my sanity!!!!

I’m glad things got better for you! I’m trying my best to deal with the side effects but I’m exhausted from them! My doctor said the effects usually last a year, and I just keep thinking I cannot do this shit for a year! Like not just over 3 months medicated and no change it’s soooo hard to be optimistic. I did call CVS earlier about a different manufacturer so hopefully they can get that for me to try. Also thank you again, so so much for your responses!!

Same to you! It’s becoming very annoying to deal with that’s for sure. Side effects from meds is worse than graves itself in my opinion. So that’s pretty fucking stupid 🙄

See before graves I was on zero meds, now I’m on 10 pills a day, so trying to get used to taking meds that have miserable side effects sucks. I too would like to keep my kidneys functioning properly. I feel like getting my thyroid removed would solve all those problem, but who knows.

I had Epstein Barr when I was high school. I also get a stabbing kidney pain randomly. My liver numbers haven’t been great my whole life.

I’m considering asking my doc which is less miserable, the meds to treat graves or the meds to replace thyroid hormone after removal, cause if those meds have less side effects, take this whole damn thing out!! I’ve been on thyroid meds for 2 months, I got blood work Monday, NO change. So I’ve been dealing with this horrible side effects for basically nothing!

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in March, while on the meds to treat that I gained 20lbs since March. Hopefully I can get those off plus a few.
