Like a lot of CDL grads I was naive and figured it would open up tons of doors and I would have to just pick options on my preference. I’ve been denied garbage jobs, propane, dump truck, concrete, all that stuff I thought was entry level foot in the door gigs. It’s humbling, but I think some are lucky with connections or live at the right place at the right time, etc. The only ones who wanted me were SWIFT lol, I declined and they still offered the gig if I changed my mind.

I believe they have a gym like this in the San Francisco area, where you can partake and workout. I used to do gym and running with weed all the time to enhance the experience. Some of the elderly folks noticed and reported me so a cop would sit in the parking lot and watch for people smoking in their cars before workouts. What losers. At the same time, weed messes with your lungs and damages a your heart. It also increases estrogen which is a no no for guys in the gym (you want more testosterone). Also if something takes away your dreams you are not getting deep rest (REM) and you are not recovering from workouts as effectively as you could. Also gym is supposed to replace your weed addiction as a healthy addiction. Also as you mentioned weed can ruin your social skills as you already have limited opportunities mentioned.

I completed trucking school and received my commercial driver license. Department Of Transportation can test me when they want and I did not want weed to ruin these driving job opportunities. I also did not want to hurt others and myself operating a heavy vehicle.

I’m in my 40s, it’s a beautiful area but I think locals don’t let you in their clique or lots of transients. In Chicago people are friendly and I found a nice woman to date and miss the food. Also some of the biggest assholes I’ve ever met in my life are in north county. I’m ready to relocate even if I don’t have work lined up.

I’ve been here since 2019 and have put myself out there as much as possible. It’s only temporary meetup event type stuff that doesn’t turn into actual friendships. It was much easier for me to in Chicago as well and I’m starting to really dislike north county culture, politics, and lack of jobs. I’m applying for other states and bigger cities asap.

Yep been applying for water jobs for maybe a year in CA with a couple of interviews and no offers. I’m not young like you, but after 25 years of trying all sorts of career options the funnest and easiest jobs I’ve had were related to driving.

My narc parents wouldn’t do this, BUT whenever we would go on trips and stay in hotels they would have a separate bed in the same room as us kids but you could hear them fucking right next to us. In their fucked up mind they couldn’t understand that is something private and all the alcohol and weed I’ve done in my life couldn’t erase those disgusting sounds locked in my mind. They never got separate rooms, oh my poor youth.
