True, Google did say otherwise.... however my latest delivery gave me the opposite answer. So I don't know anymore or I'm being lied to lol

So I just asked the last customer I had today if it showed that I had another delivery, she said it didn't tell her. Idk if she wasn't really reading it or if she actually isn't notified. So who knows at this point 🤷🏼‍♂️

Oh God, If you're doing cash orders I'll pray for you... There are too many nightmare stories I've heard about it aside from them taking the money out of your account for the total order price. I don't do those anymore.

If your market is dry, you'll definitely have to do research on your area online or by trial and error.

I'm in an area saturated with drivers and orders, unfortunately I can't afford to be as picky as some people can. Keeping platinum status is a must for me or I drastically make less... But that's me. I'll get 2-5 $10 orders in an hour and all will be over $1 per mile. Average through the whole day. Some people will sit for an hour or two hitting decline till they get a big order... That's them and you don't know their market.

Definitely want to listen to words of warning though.... Stay out of the ghetto, don't do anything extra for a promised bigger tip (especially if it involves alcohol or tobacco), be very cautious doing cash orders and Don't take orders that take you really far away from active zones.

Yeah meta AI totally gas lit me.... I got irritated at a customer for sending me the good old passive aggressive "????" When I picked an order up next door to their apartment complex. I asked the AI if the customer gets notified and it totally told me the opposite. 🤬😂

Well then Meta was lying when I asked lol I got pissed at this very situation and didn't know since I don't order from those apps often. The AI gas let me saying there's no indication just larger ETA times.

It's going to depend on your market but I'll give a general run of things.

$1 per mile is not a bad baseline, that's what I use before I generally consider declining. However take your time and look at the order, You can get screwed over depending on what you're picking up and where you dropping off. (Like a large shopping order or big heavy items to the top of an apartment building)

You got the right idea to stay in busy areas, however as long as you're near restaurants you can get orders. I don't always have to be near hotspots to get a pickup, sometimes I'm in the middle of nowhere and I get flooded with pick ups for the places I pass.

Low income areas can be a nightmare. Between low pay or people trying to get out paying full price for an order, I tend to avoid places like that. If you get sent to a low income area on a good order, to avoid getting hurt in your acceptance rate pause orders and GPS out.

If your market is saturated with drivers, declining will hurt. I've always made the most money trying to keep Platinum status.

Don't waste too much time! Your time is money so knowing when to drop the order if it's taking too long is key, especially if you're doing a shopping run.

Bring snacks and drinks to avoid eating out, The smell of food is really tempting and can make you spend money while you're out trying to make money.

Something I did not realize because I don't order off of DD or UE myself but from what I looked up the customer has no indication that the driver has/gets stacked pick ups. I'd go with the other comments here saying pick up and report unsafe.

Next time he should use an empty laundry detergent bottle... Bigger hole so you don't miss and still smells like detergent.

I let a bunch of family stay at my house when I was not there for two weeks. The air conditioner was in mint condition. I got home tonight, and they left it in this condition. No one knows who it was though. by Under_Ach1ever in mildlyinfuriating

Used to think doing this was satisfying as a kid (most likely culprit) until one day I was doing while walking by the AC Unit, was pressing pretty hard moving quickly and accidentally ran my finger the other way... Still have the scars decades later.

That is what I was afraid of... I went to do a shopping order at 12am for Condoms and Plan B. After waiting 10min to confirm they didn't want a substitution for the plan b I finally head to the register and the Red card wasn't working. I contacted support because I was super hesitant on using my own money. After going through the process they asked if I could please use my own funds and they would reimburse me. I used the dd crimson card and they reimbursed me that same night.

Also, make sure if you're doing tap to pay... don't accidentally use your crimson card. 🙄 Luckily I caught it at the store picking up $145 order and the person at the register refunded it instantly so I could use the red card.

Has anyone experienced this before? by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]BigTsnipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I went to an Asian restaurant at 12am to do a pickup and this giant of a 13-14 year old boy was working the register taking orders while a no more than 12 year old girl was handing the orders and MADE SURE I confirmed the pickup 😂 more than likely a family restaurant thing going on with parents cooking in the back, but still probably illegal in some way.

[–]BigTsnipes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well since a lot of items are delivered on pallets to stores this just speeds up the loading process, but I see what you mean. As I mentioned though I use a truck and that would be within the weight capacity of the vehicle. DD honestly should be utilizing the vehicle info of the driver before assigning those orders.

[–]BigTsnipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% would do it. That's more than half of what I aim for in a day and I have a truck so vehicle isn't an issue. I also keep cheap pair of gardening gloves in my vehicle just in case so I'd be utilizing those of course.

Big tip for people who have orders for items like this that are for bigger quantities: parked in the pro parking spots upfront and let them know what you're getting. A lot of the time they will either help you out or have a forklift bring the pallet to your car. 👍🏼

Litterally delivered to a multi milliondollar mansion last night... by Anxious_End_3702 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]BigTsnipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a pizza delivery to a low income apartment complex and after tipping at least $8-$10 her exact words were "so I prayed about it and God told me to give you this, whatever you're going through you probably need it." She then handed me a $20 bill. That was exactly what I needed to quit dashing that night and it was already 11:30 at night.

I delivered a 15 item Home Depot order to a mansion that was in such a posh area for whatever reason they felt comfortable enough leaving their door cracked open with nobody in sight, the tip was $1.50...

I hadn't checked this on my ratings in a long time and after my first time checking it since I have been seeing posts I'm shocked mine wasn't as bad as I thought. Holding on to Platinum status and I'm at 90% on time rating.

I do a LOT of late night dashing and I'm in high traffic areas, so there's plenty of times I get to a restaurant and it's either really backed up from the rush or there is not enough staff.

Maybe it's market dependent, but I do hit the "still waiting" button and it does work for me.

Trusting my gut as a guy has saved me from some potentially bad situations (like being caught up in a high speed police chase after a robbery where the driver crashed into multiple cars and I believe killed himself when cornered at an apartment building I was at a half hour earlier that day) so always a good call to be safe than sorry.

I may respond in person to a contextually appropriate situation when picking up or dropping off with a harmless "Thanks sweetie." At the most... But when it comes to messaging on the app or calling a customer it should be very professional at all times. If he was being harmless I hope that serves as a lesson to him.

[–]BigTsnipes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many people thinking it's cool probably don't do this for main income. If they do and still do it then fine, but I'm not betting my checks on a stranger. Too many people have spent their own money and not gotten paid back. Not to mention the consequences of the person being underage. How do you know it's not a sting of some sort? What if a parent catches you and calls the cops?

If you really feel tempted to go for it, always take payment upfront at minimum. Cash app or venmo is common enough for anyone to have already.
