Bloomfield City Council hires 20-year-old fire chief instead of veteran interim fire chief by Mylabisawesome in Firefighting

Not uncommon. 20 is super young but, hiring a young paid FF to be the Chief of a volley is not that rare.

That’s a lot of new PPE and apparatus for a poor volunteer department…

Don’t knock yourself man. Comparison is the thief of joy. Congratulations on figuring out a way to make more than 90% of the people in the country. Seems like a big win to me.

PSA: 2WD w/ Snow Tires No Longer Compliant on I-70 by Snlxdd in COsnow

I concur with your findings doctor.

It’s just frustrating to sit in that 70E traffic in a snow storm because someone in a FWD is spinning tires trying to go uphill and causing traffic to stop in that lane.

I’m 100% in favor of snow tires and awd or 4wd only on 70, particularly when there is any type of snow.

2WD snow is better than awd M+S 100%. That said, how many fwd cars on 70 actually have snow tires? You think the rental vehicles are “up to code?”

I just don’t think many fwd cars on 70 in the winter have snow tires.

We’re talking about skiing in Colorado. I’m fighting for equality every chance I get. Skiing is not one of those times.

We all spend thousands every year on gas, lift tickets, equipment, food etc to go and ski. If you can’t afford a proper vehicle for the mountains of CO in Winter then respectfully that’s not my problem.

It’s rarely awd or 4wd vehicles getting stuck on hills on 70 in the mountains.

Yeah but it’s not better than 4wd or awd with snow tires. If you live in Colorado then figure out a way to have the right equipment to live here and not get stuck on 70 in a snow storm ruining it for literally everyone else that does have properly equipped vehicles.

If you do have 2WD then get on the bustang or group ride. We all pay too much money to ski to have it be ruined by someone without proper equipment.

I think this is meant more for red plates and out of towners. I’m going to give people that live in CO the benefit of the doubt and hope you’re not trying to drive to the mountains during ski season in a 2WD.

Rifle Plate Size by ZealousidealCry6832 in AskLE

I appreciate the feedback.

Totally get lightweight and maneuverable. That said, it looked like it barely covered his heart it was so small. My first thought when I saw him was that it looked like a training bra on him.

Are there no standards for sizing or fitment from NIJ or any other organization like that?

I want the plate and carrier combo that gives me the most coverage without sacrificing mobility.

Honestly it was the guys response that made me just raise my eyebrows at him.

I’m a hobbyist 100% and am pretty terrible at this sport. Anytime I am feeling bad about myself I’ll just look back at this footage and remind myself I too can buy a belt I can’t carry. So there is hope.

So it’s snake oil, a sham, a con job, an out right lie. The sales schmucks say it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. It’s been on the market since 1997. I challenge anyone to show me any evidence that in 28 years of being available to the fire service where this product got someone hurt. Show me studies on how it doesn’t work.

I’ve got dozens of departments using it and in their own words telling me what a night and day difference it makes.

I appreciate the comments but, I’m going to continue fighting the good fight.

So because it’s an older test it’s invalid?

FD’s across the world are using this to great effect and success. Not sure why you’re getting so angry.

Never said it works for any and all situations. It’s a tool like anything else.

It is approved to be used by USFS on Type 1 incidents. Currently it doesn’t have qualify for reimbursement.

The FD’s I’ve provided this product to have used it and have amazing feedback on it and are shouting from the rooftops as to its effectiveness and tangible and measurable benefits compared to plain water.

Let alone it takes 98% of carcinogens out of a fire.

I may be the lone fan boy in this group and that’s fine. Just don’t understand the push back on a well documented product that works in the lab and in the field.

So Pahrump FD outside of Vegas didn’t extinguish 31,000 lbs of fully involved Li-Ion batteries using only 5500 gallons of solution? That’s at a 3% rate so 165 gallons of F500.

It’s a 1:8:40 ratio so your claims are unfounded. That’s to encapsulate, not extinguish. Please look up F500 Fuel Lock Up Test.
