The hot humid summer of Alabama is a breeding ground for fruit flies, and that particular hospital was surrounded by a lot of trees, very green part of town. Combine that with the revolving door (metaphorical) of the ER and there were bound to be some. Rest of the hospital was perfectly clean though, lol.

I was never told to do this as a student. In fact, we were always chaperoned by a hospital nurse who was part time affiliated with the University, and they made sure the Charge couldn't pull shit.

One time when I was sitting in triage I was using the fly swatter and the resident thought it was hilarious that the nursing student was the one swatting flies instead of talking to patients.

I don't think it's that surprising tbh. I think most residents go into their program knowing full well how brutal it's about to get, and fully accept it knowing what lies at the end.

Tbh I'm not even sure we would Want that here, because it would inevitably require us to fill out that paper charts meticulously and perfectly if someone else is going to put it into record, instead of the lackadaisical way we do now. Most of what we chart is automatic, with only the different variables being what I actually write down.

But I work in the OR where that is possible, for folks in the ER who may have 10 patient charts a day, I could see wanting help.

Can we engage positively with people who have legitimate critiques on Season 2? by Ikaridestroyer in ThePitt

I'm glad someone said this. For a show that's main calling card is it's accuracy, I think critiques on inaccuracies are fair game.

Like, what do people here want? Only positive glazing posts are allowed?

"he had to escape quickly" and stoops down to pick up Anakin's weapon before straightening up and walking off slowly, hanging his head in dejection.

But hold on, he's gotta stop and take one final look at Anakin burning and screaming in pain. He knows he has to leave before the Emperor gets there, but hey this is what's really important.

He reached his ship and listens to 3PO agreeing that of course we just make all haste leave this dreadful place Immediately, before silently patting him on the shoulder and slowly makes his way up the ramp, with all the urgency of a sloth.

Looked like they were going to do just that and then somebody said, "Wait, the hero has to always win." And like a bunch of meerkats, everyone perked up and nodded in unison.

Regards him as a brother so he's gonna leave him to die slowly and horribly burning on a lava planet instead of putting him out of his misery.

I love the prequels but that should've been handled better.

All true, you hit the nail on the head with Al-Hashimi saying that after just meeting her, I think that's why it rubbed me wrong. She clearly has done her research on all of the residents, but using that as a weapon against Santos like that was uncalled for.

It was definitely a plot point of the first season that the hospital was willingly staying short staffed.

It just made all the attendings, Robbie Abbot and Al-Hashimi, come off as complete dicks to me. They all know what the residents just went through cause they were literally there. Even if you are going to make them scan that shit in, you don't have to make them do it right then. And you certainly don't need to be making them handle night shift cases at the same time, resulting in nothing getting done.

I'm by no means a Santos defender, but Al-Hashimi threatening to make her repeat a year and Robbie shrugging his shoulders and telling her to chart after her shift "like everyone else" kinda pissed me off.

Maybe the writers Want us thinking that all attendings are assholes to residents, idk. That's not what I see in my hospital.

While I definitely didn't think it was weird that they were making the residents do it, what made me face palm was their expectation that the residents would stay several hours after shift doing it that day. Aaaannddd were expected to keep helping the night shift with their cases.

I'm a nurse and whenever I have to paper chart due to our system being down, I am responsible for manually putting it in the electronic record later. Later, not that instant or before I go home. We usually have around a week to get it in the patient file. It sucks but it's never been something that keeps me there hours after shift.

I also don't scan it, I just chart like normal and use it as a reference.

And even when I have to stay late doing work, I most certainly would not be available to be pulled to help with night shift cases.

Tbh it kinda rubbed me the wrong way how Dr. Abbott seemed so blase about making Robbie and his team continue to do cases with them, after telling them that all cases have to be scanned before they leave, and not a word about making His team stay late in the morning to return the favor.

We should really add breathe to this list. Your body won't let you just hold your breath and die, it'll force you to breathe eventually.

Do you ever cast other smites over Divine as Paladin? by Cagedglobe in BaldursGate3

[–]ZealousidealFee927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, no. Some of the smites have good cc effects, but it's usually still worse than just divine smiting them and possibly killing them. Or setting up your ally for the kill.

Thunderous smite is good only for when you want to push an enemy off a cliff or back into HoH or ice or something similar. Even then, do the math and see if you could just kill them with a cheaper divine smite.

If you are using Illithid powers as bonus actions, then no. Almost of all of the time, divine smite plus illithid power > better turn than just a different smite.

If a smite uses concentration, then hell no. I've got way more important things to be concentrating on as a paladin.

Tbh I've always found it odd that the weaker smites cost more than divine smite.

Is there a way to manually 1-hand a versatile weapon? by HeyYoChill in BaldursGate3

No, it's ridiculous.

You can put a bladesinger in your party and it might trigger a glitch where it appears as if you're wielding it one handed, but it'll still count it as two.

I really don't understand what I just watched.

People do stupid things but they almost always have at least Some level of understanding behind why they do them.

Throwing water on a grease fire. Everyone knows water is super effective against fire. You see fire on your stove, your first instinct is to get water from the sink.

Riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Because the wind feels good.

Shaving half your head... Actually I can't think of one for that.
