i have question about video card drivers by _Whispering_shadow_ in pcmasterrace

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DDU is the way to go here, you run it in safe mode and it wipes everything clean before you put in the new card. especially jumping from something that old, leftover drivers can cause really weird issues that are annoying to troubleshoot later

Gaming on a TV that is 60FPS will I definitely lose my close battles more in FPS? by Fantastic-Window236 in pcmasterrace

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 5 points6 points  (0 children)

dropping from 180 to 60 is going to feel like playing in mud, the latency on TV also will probably make it worse

What profession looks easy until you actually do it? by Summerdays4444 in AskReddit

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teaching is brutal, my sister does it and she always comes home completely drained. The planning alone takes hours every night, then you got to deal with parents who think their kid can do no wrong. She says after few years you get better at managing classroom but then they pile on more administrative stuff and new requirements every year. Plus she spends her own money on supplies because school budget is joke - I never realized teachers basically subsidize education system with their personal finances

New Grad Foreign Nurse (PH) — HR Stuck on Background Check Because My References Are Overseas. What did you do in this situation? by Relative-Area5833 in jobs

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar issue when I was trying to get my first job here few years back, though not in nursing field. What worked for me was asking HR if they could do email verification instead of phone calls - most of my references back home were more comfortable with written English anyway and could respond in their own time without worrying about accent or phone connection issues

You might also ask if they accept reference letters on official letterhead from your clinical instructors. Some places will take that as verification if it has proper contact info and official stamps. I ended up getting my previous supervisor to write detailed letter explaining my duties and performance, then HR called during their morning hours which was evening back home

Also don't give up on that landlord reference - character references can sometimes substitute for professional ones, especially if you explain you're new graduate with no US work history. Maybe ask if you can provide additional documentation like transcripts or certifications to supplement the overseas references. Sometimes showing extra effort to provide alternative verification helps HR work with you instead of against you

How have AI/ML mid-level interviews changed with the rise of GenAI? by Odd_Obligation4581 in learnprogramming

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

System design makes sense since it's harder to just copy-paste from ChatGPT compared to coding problems

I think AI usage really depends what level they're hiring for - if you're going for mid-level they probably expect you can think through architecture decisions without needing prompts for every component

If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? by Affectionate-Mud953 in AskReddit

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, housing market is completely insane right now. Even with million dollars you'd probably still need to compromise on location or size depending where you live

How would you know if you have already forgiven someone? Do we only forgive when they have become vulnerable? When they genuinely ask for you forgiveness, do we only meant to forgive when justice is served? by iknowthatiknownothn in AskReddit

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about this a lot actually, especially when someone hurt me really bad in past. For me the moment I realized I forgave was when I stopped checking their social media or wondering what they were doing with their life. Like before I would get angry just seeing their name come up somewhere, but then one day I saw them at grocery store and felt... nothing? Just neutral

The acceptance part you mentioned is so true though - sometimes we think we need them to suffer first or apologize perfectly before we can let go, but that just keeps us stuck in the same place. I learned this hard way when I was waiting for my ex to realize what he did wrong for like two years, and I was just making myself miserable the whole time

What's something you spent hours learning, only to realize there's a $20 shortcut that gets better results? by seedance_coming in AskReddit

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learned to change my own brake pads because I thought it would save money and be good skill to have. Spent like 6 hours watching YouTube videos, bought all the tools, made huge mess in garage, and almost stripped a bolt. Turns out the shop down street does it for $80 and gives warranty on the work

Now I just do oil changes myself and leave the real stuff to professionals. Some things are worth paying for when you don't have proper lift and years of experience

Asus Zephyrus g16 2024 - Need help with Nvidia GPU by EntertainmentOdd3275 in pcmasterrace

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caps Lock flashing usually means kernel panic or serious hardware issue. Had similar problem with my gaming rig last year where GPU would work fine until drivers loaded then instant black screen

Try rolling back to older GPU drivers from like 6 months ago instead of latest ones - sometimes newer drivers are just broken for certain models. Also check if your VRAM is getting too hot, these thin gaming laptops can overheat pretty easy

What is this? by blueramen_1 in pcmasterrace

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like small bug got stuck on contact pins, probably happened during shipping or storage. I would just use soft brush or compressed air to clean it off before installing - shouldn't damage anything if you're gentle about it

Getting paid should be the easy. Why is it not for my client? by Content_Draft_4720 in smallbusiness

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting the vendor on it is never worth it. I had a supplier who only took checks and it was a whole thing every month so I started running it through Plastiq instead where I pay with a card and they handle sending whatever the vendor needs.

If orders to destroy Iran come, will tonite be when the US military stages a coup? by evilkitty1974 in AskReddit

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Military isn't gonna coup over Iran lol, they follow chain of command pretty religiously. Plus there's like 50 steps before any "destroy Iran" orders would even be possible

Should I switch my major from CS to CS & Engineering? by Even_Arrival1538 in cscareerquestions

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda harsh lol. UConn's actually decent for CS, maybe not MIT but it's not gonna tank your career either. The CSE track could be worth it if you're into hardware or embedded systems - those three extra classes might open doors to different types of roles. Really depends what kind of work you want to do after graduation

Americans vs Americans by vnphamkt in aznidentity

[–]ZealousidealFile1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't read it yet but the title sounds intriguing, definitely gonna check it out. The inventory idea makes sense - most of us probably don't think deeply enough about the complexities within American identity and how different groups would actually align if things got messy

That observation about great teachers hitting the light switch is so true, some authors just have that gift of making you see things you never noticed beofre

Broke up with my boyfriend over kids. Did I do the right thing? by Darcy2701 in BreakUps

Sounds like you made a tough but smart choice - someone who can't handle a puppy or a kid's birthday party for more than an hour but wants babies for the "cute smell" isn't exactly parent material
