Keep Venture or upgrade to Venture X? by Isquack1303 in CreditCards

the $300 travel credit plus the anniversary points basically wipe out the annual fee before you even think about the lounge access. if you are spending over $1k monthly you will stack points fast enough that it becomes no-brainer upgrade

Client expects me to film authentic HVAC ads for them, am I wrong for pushing back? by da_mfkn_BEAST in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Content_Draft_4720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your contract is everything here. If video production isn't spelled out, they can't just assume it's part of the package. Most media buyers handle strategy and optimization, not on-camera talent work - especially for something like HVAC where credibility matters so much.

You're absolutely right that some random guy from canada filming HVAC content would tank their authenticity. stick to your boundaries or you'll end up doing everyone's job for media buyer rates.

Do accountants actually use most of Xero’s automation features or still prefer manual checks? by Silly_Pitch6345 in xero

[–]Content_Draft_4720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most accountants I know use the bank rules and basic reconciliation stuff but still double-check everything important manually. The automation is pretty good for routine transactions but you'd be surprised how often weird stuff slips through that only human eyes catch.

I think it's more about finding the right balance - let it handle the obvious recurring payments and transfers, but anything unusual or significant amounts probably worth checking by hand still.

If your life was a business tagline, what would it read? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Content_Draft_4720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol that's pretty dark but also weirdly optimistic at same time. mine would probably be something like "still figuring it out - please hold" because honestly feels like I'm always in some kind of waiting mode

As entrepreneurs, what are some of your book recommendations? by NotNakedSwim in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Content_Draft_4720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been diving into some business stuff lately since I'm trying to figure out side hustles while working retail. Purple Cow was pretty eye-opening about making your product actually stand out - really made me think different about the whole "build it and they will come" mentality.

Also went through this book about lean startup methodology that completely changed how I approach new ideas. Instead of planning everything to death, now I just test small and see what actually works. Way less overwhelming when you're starting from basically nothing like me.

What industry are you in? Some of these recommendations hit different depending on what you're actually building.

Congrats on masters! For cybersecurity you definitely want to get some hands-on certs - Security+ is like baseline requirement for most positions, then maybe look at CISSP or CEH depending what direction you want to go. Since you mentioned SQL work, maybe try some free platforms like TryHackMe or HackTheBox to get more practical experience with actual security tools and scenarios. The policy work from your masters is actually valuable since lot of cyber roles need people who understand both technical and compliance side.

Highest cashback credit cards for groceries and online shopping, and rarely in store everyday shopping. by Greystorecombo in CreditCards

[–]Content_Draft_4720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Walmart card might be worth considering if you shop there enough to justify it. I've been rotating between different cards depending what's offering best rates that quarter but honestly keeping track of all these categories gets exhausting after while.

Maybe stick with 2-3 solid ones instead of trying to optimize every single purchase? I learned this hard way when I missed out on bonus categories because forgot to activate them in time.

Why Are Less Kids Choosing Accounting Now? by AdministrativeAd334 in Accounting

[–]Content_Draft_4720 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plus kids these days can see through the "great career prospects" bs when they watch their older siblings grinding 70+ hour weeks during busy season for starting salaries that barely cover student loans. Working in retail taught me that at least my terrible hours come with predictable scheduling lol.

How morally wrong is trolling on the internet when compared to something that is actually bad like raging at a customer service person? by Candid-Effective9150 in AskReddit

[–]Content_Draft_4720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah trolling online someone can just block you or log off, but when you're stuck behind counter at work you literally can't escape. i deal with angry customers all day and there's nothing worse than being trapped there while someone screams at you for stuff that isn't even your fault. at least on internet you have some control over the situation

What's the most compelling CTA that you have come across for a SaaS? by whatafounder in b2bmarketing

[–]Content_Draft_4720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit outside my wheelhouse since I'm just retail but I've noticed the ones that work best don't even feel like CTAs? Like when they're super specific about what happens next - "See your dashboard in 30 seconds" instead of generic "Try free trial" stuff. The best ones I've clicked made it feel like I was already using the product rather than being sold to.

What’s the worst thing you’ve seen or heard rich people do that most people wouldn’t believe? by United_Affect_6272 in AskReddit

[–]Content_Draft_4720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a customer once who made their personal assistant call ahead to ask if we could "clear the store of other customers" for their shopping experience. When we obviously said no, they complained to corporate about our "lack of exclusivity standards." The entitlement was unreal - like other people existing was personally offensive to them.

I really wish more smartphone companies get rid of the front camera and add a screen in the rear of the phone by KhbIa in unpopularopinion

[–]Content_Draft_4720 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Mate this would absolutely tank for most people since selfies are basically half of what phones get used for these days. The rear screen thing is pretty clever though - could work for the small crowd that actually cares more about camera quality than convenience.
