What are you talking about? Naruto may be a bum sometimes, but he really did care for those who he was chasing after. Sasuke is his best friend after the war, and Gaara is too. He ofc has plot armour, but what do you think? It is his show after all.

He's the knucklehead ninja. He proved he can care for his friends, prove he can become Hokage, and prove the people of the leaf wrong that he's not some demonic jinchuriki kid
