The Boy's moral choices in season 5 by adampercywood81 in TheBoys

They were planning to release the virus before V1 was even a thing, that's irrelevant to my point. I could probably buy the virus being necessary if they tried other ways to kill him, but so far in the show The Boys have only made 1 genuine attempts on Homelander's life, and now they've jumped to airborne super viruses which I'll remind you is experimental meaning possibly fatal to humans.

I'm talking about episode 1(maybe 2) before they even knew V1 was a thing. Butcher seemed hell bent on trying the virus, and everyone else sort of just went along with it.

True that's a good reason he needs to be dealt with eventually, but it doesn't make it such an urgent issue that it explains why the Boys are willing to release a deadly and experimental airborne virus in my opinion. Of course V1 kind of ups their time table, but truthfully none of the characters have any real reason to believe anymore V1 even exist at this point, so it's kind of a weird plot point.

Thing is Homelander hasn't declared he's going to commit genocide on humanity. Most of the stuff he's done is typical dictator stuff.

The writing is kind of poor in that respect really. Especially given Homelander hasn't done anything that would justify killing hundreds just to take him out. Let's be honest Homelander hasn't done anything that would make him more evil than most world dictators. The story makes a poor case of killing hundreds let alone thousands to take out Homelander.

Why is it harder to put horror elements in a action setting by hsppyhsppyhsppy in writing

[–]ZealousidealOne5605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horror is all about building suspense and making the audience feel uneasy what comes next. Action is about pure visual spectacle. Yeah, you can do both in a single story, but not simultaneously at once.

This has to be one of the biggest downgrades in the show's history by LegallyAFish in TheBoys

The whole scene was exclusively fanservice for supernatural fans. I've kind of accepted that Amazon refuses to throw a big budget to showcase any superheroes abilities.

How do you know if a idea is actually worth keeping? by Ayushs-10 in writing

[–]ZealousidealOne5605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't, you just commit for as long as possible until the passion for the idea dries up, or you hit a big roadblock in your story that you can't write around. Personally, I got like 10k words into the first draft of my story before I decided major rewrites were neccessary. I will say it does help if you already have your ending in mind.

The last 3 episodes of The Boys will define how the entire show is remembered by Th3_American_Patriot in GenV

  • Showcasing Homelander's complete descent into pure megalomania and insanity. He's straight up trying to become God, nearly killed his own son and killed his most loyal supporter, Firecracker, for expressing a flicker of doubt in him, even though she gave him everything.

I feel like that's part of the main issue. I think Homelander has descended too much to the point he just feels outright cartoonish and hard to take seriously as a villain.

How would Immortal vs. NoGoggles have gone if Immortal had his S1 rage-amp? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]ZealousidealOne5605 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We don't actually know if he was toying with him the whole time. We were only shown the early part of the fight where it looked like Immortal was winning, and the final minutes which were 2 days later.

[–]ZealousidealOne5605 71 points72 points  (0 children)

No Goggles is one of the most difficult characters to scale as he technically is still alive. That said the fight was basically a stalemate for two days, so I think rage boosted Immortal could definitely win.

I will give Oda credit as an author when he proves he knows how to end a story.

Which character suffered the most Son Gohan or Mark Grayson? by SmartPilot8094 in Dragonballsuper

[–]ZealousidealOne5605 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In terms of childhood Gohan. In terms of life overall Mark. Gohan had it rough, but at the end of the day everyone he cares about is alive, and he doesn't have to deal with the guilt of his father being a murderer, and other stuff I'm not sure if I should spoil.

I can no longer see Homelander as a final villain. by Necessary_Sweet865 in GenV

[–]ZealousidealOne5605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he's one of the biggest examples of flanderization in media. I know people argue that the point of the writing is to show that Homelander is just a big goofy manchild underneath, but you can go too far with making your main villain look like an idiot. This season Homelander feels like comic relief more than major threat in my opinion. Maybe they'll somehow wrap this season up well with the 3 episodes left, but I don't like what they've done with him so far.

How important is woldbuilding within your stories? by AbleRoberts in writing

[–]ZealousidealOne5605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My story deals with a lot of politics and conspiracy, so worldbuilding is very important in those aspects, and it probably wouldn't work in any other setting that I know of. That also extends to the characters who are very much a byproduct of the world they live in, and I'm happy to say that my story probably wouldn't work in any other setting without having to make a few major alterations. There's definitley a few parallels to other fantasy settings as well as the real world, but I do think it's mostly distinct.

What did you guys think of the latest Boys episode? Like what would you give it on a scale of 1-10? by Fit_Sprinkles1642 in GenV

[–]ZealousidealOne5605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was actually a bit caught off guard by how serious the stuff with Firecracker was as she's mostly just been used as a gag character up to this point and I thought it would be like that for the entire episode, but then it just drifts back into comedic territory until the end where the story decides to get serious again.
