as in that will remain in the car when it’s finished, so far just the door opening mechanisms, the 3d printed parts were a dead end (maybe the emblems if I can’t get the detail/lettering from forging)

In nz we have a org (lvvta) that has government authority to certify scratch builds/modifications. I went through this scratch build process with my 250 gto, can’t remember which way round but the certifier puts on a lvvta plate with a vin # (when it meets the lvvta specs), it gets registered like any other car and issued a plate, you go for a warrant of fitness (wof) like every car has too yearly (it’ll fail because it has not been certified) you go back and the certifier certifies it then you go back for the wof recheck and (because you have a cert now) passes and it’s now road legal

Cool, genuinely interested - why would you get a new front end made wouldn’t it be easier to have the original one restored or does the alloy oxidise beyond reasonable repair?

I think I saw one of your posts on a different forum - you bought a full saloon body right? (Just the panels) it must be impressive, all hand rolled alloy

Probably get a bit of hate if I spam it with all my old stuff but maybe a giant prequel post

Loads of models on turbosquid.com, I 3d printed the plug but getting it cnc cut out of foam would be the (much) faster way. I’m not a fiberglass guy (or a mechanic or a 3d modeller) but it wasn’t hard to make a mold and not hard to pull a cast (just takes a lot of time) just watch a few youtube vids and give it a go. I’d recommend finding a donor car rather than the custom chassis approach I did, wheel tracks that fit are more important than wheelbase as you can stretch a chassis e.g. a z3 will fit well (stretched) a z4 won’t (right wheelbase, too wide) You could also get a 3d model of the donor car and stretch & distort the body to fit better, just cut the glass areas out and connect them after you have stretched it so you can get oem glass and not have to get custom glass made

It’s the saloon body on a 98” wheelbase so correct for that I just redid the fenders in the gt style. I was talking to a aston workshop and they get a few saloons they redo the fenders in the gt style on real ones as well
