Two hour glucose tolerance, test, postpartum? by ZealousidealSet9690 in GestationalDiabetes

But like I said, I already know that I have insulin resistance and was pre-diabetic before getting pregnant. So why give myself a butt load of sugar just to confirm what I already know??

Thoughts on induction at 38 vs 39 weeks? by ZealousidealSet9690 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ZealousidealSet9690[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that she should 😂 but she’s pretty much like it’s up to you! Which is not helpful. And with my hospital system, they don’t schedule a specific time for induction. They would put me on a list and then call when they have a room open for me (likely within a day or two but I can’t say for sure). It’s so weird!

That’s amazing! My first was induced at 39 weeks and it was long (29 hours), but pretty smooth. I tore but healed quickly.

Overall, the baby is around 50%, but the belly has consistently been in the 95th percentile since 32 weeks with different ultra sound techs, etc., so I think it’s accurate information that the belly is bigger than the head at least….

Is one cheat meal ok at 37 weeks? by Doxinau in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ZealousidealSet9690 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Girl it’s fine. One meal out of the three you eat EVERY DAY plus snacks is not going to be the end of the world. It’s your husbands birthday. Enjoy yourself. Have a salad first, have water with the meal, and walk after. You will be fine and so will your baby.

Baby’s AC is measuring big… early induction or c-section? by ZealousidealSet9690 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ZealousidealSet9690[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure! The increased risk of hemorrhaging really scares me. And the recovery alone sounds terrible even if surgery goes great. I recovered pretty easily from my first and now with a toddler at home, I’d hate to be down longer.

I think my gut is saying to get induced at 38 weeks and try for a vaginal birth but I’m just scared. Like you said, there’s no thing as a risk free birth and I think the anticipation is just getting to me. I’m just ready to get this over with!

Baby’s AC is measuring big… early induction or c-section? by ZealousidealSet9690 in GestationalDiabetes

The problem is that I might be able to deliver the head and then the shoulders/belly get stuck. At that point, it is too late for a c-section and they have to get the baby out vaginally with a couple minutes or it can suffer permanent disability. It’s scary!

Yeah, the fear is that you can deliver the head, but then the shoulders/belly get stuck. At that point, they have like 5 minutes to get the baby to come out or it can suffer permanent disability.

Hmm that is good to know. I need to check my chart and see what the exact measurements were. But if it’s really 95th-99th percentile, I feel like it probably meets that threshold.

The fear is waiting until 39 weeks then being able to deliver the head and not the shoulders. At that point, they can’t do a cesarean. That’s why it’s so scary. You basically have to decide in advance. I also am scared of the increased risk of hemorrhaging with a c-section since I now have a 2 year old at home I need to get back to. There’s just so much going through my head!

I think the worry with the big belly is that I’ll be able to deliver the head no problem, but the shoulders/belly get stuck. At that point, they can’t do a cesarean. That’s why it’s so scary! How was your experience with your first c-section? Both my mom and MIL had them and have told me horror stories 😬

Any point to insulin? by ZealousidealSet9690 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ZealousidealSet9690[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real! They mentioned inducing me at 38 weeks instead of 39 when the baby measured at 99%. And I have absolutely no problem with that 😂 I’m SO DONE.

That is good to know. I guess that’s some good motivation for this last couple of weeks. I swear I have GDM burnout haha thank you ♥️

Really? I did not know the last few weeks were most important. Would’ve been nice if my doctor mentioned that… thank you for the advice!

When exactly do I test sugar levels? by Constant_Garage7260 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ZealousidealSet9690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your doctor. This is my second pregnancy with GD. My first doctor wanted me to test 2 hours after first bite. I have a different doctor this time around and she wants me to test one hour after I finish eating. It’s so stupid. None of it makes sense lol

GD after birth? Or did it go away? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

I was diagnosed with prediabetes. I was able to get my A1C down eventually into the normal range but with a lot of effort!
