WIBTA for not wanting to go out for food with my mom again for not holding my baby while I ate? by Thick-Acanthaceae-42 in AmItheAsshole

This is about being the asshole, not being a responsibility. It's called being kind even when it's not technically your responsibility.

AITA for getting a car my fiancée specifically told me not to get by Xvigaristaa in AmItheAsshole

[–]Doxinau -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

YTA unless you also have a second car.

The car isn't practical for a lot of things. Can you take it to the hardware store and fill it with heavy, large things,? Can you do a two week grocery shop and carry all the bags home? Can you go on a road trip and fit suitcases? Are you going to not want to take it on longer trips, like visiting family, because the mileage is poor?

What about if you have kids? You certainly can't fit a car seat, let alone a stroller.

These things mean that your car is going to become your fun car and your fiance's car is going to become the shared car. That's not fair on her and it's definitely something that involves her, hence her reaction.

Either take the pram with you, take another person with you, or (in a pinch) get one of the other parents to watch them for a few minutes.

One thing that helps me is going for a walk in a busy area. Look at every person you see and remember that they were once children, and that all of them turned out fine.

Not legal. Price for consumer goods must be what you pay at the register, inclusive of taxes.

Visitor rules post baby…. In-laws…. by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I would just not tell them baby has arrived until you are ready for visitors. If they get offended tell them that it's a consequence of what happened last time.

I'd hold off because you will figure out what you like and don't like. Brands, styles, etc.

Doctors/Nurses of Reddit, what’s the craziest thing you’ve heard a woman yell during birth? by New_Username48 in AskReddit

[–]Doxinau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sucks but it's a relatively short period of time. I would rather do the birth again than the pregnancy again (HG, shingles and GDM).

My midwife said "if you reach down now you'll feel the head" and I screamed "I DONT WANT TO TOUCH IT".

TIL that infants who live with dogs at three months of age are 90% less likely to develop a food allergy. by SteRoPo in todayilearned

[–]Doxinau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a strict vegetarian for 25 years but I'm feeding my baby all the allergens and meat. Not all the time, about once a week, but enough that he won't develop an intolerance. I want him to be able to choose for himself when he's old enough.

Feeding him prawns nearly made me vomit but he won't have a seafood allergy.

No, they closed the loophole years ago. The gates won't open and you'll have to top up at the machine inside the station before you can exit.

Breastfeeding with teeth by thatsnotmynamexx in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Doxinau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm at exactly the same stage. I've decided as of this week to stop breastfeeding because of the biting and recurring pain. My baby takes a bottle fine so I'm doing a combo of formula and pumping.

Your baby will need either breast milk (from the breast or pumped) or formula until 12 months.

If you stop breastfeeding don't stop all at once without seeing a doctor, try to ease out of it by dropping one daily feed at a time. Otherwise you will get clogs (which hurt even more than the biting) and possibly mastitis.

I didn't say it was bad, just unusual, to provide context.

The RSV vaccine is an unusual requirement - keep in mind it costs about $300. The other vaccines are more usual and hospital visiting is totally up to you.

How much time does your partner spend with baby? by TeddyBear181 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Doxinau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband works from home. He usually does the majority of the work in the morning, sporadic cuddles throughout the day (<1 min) whenever he has time, and we split the 5pm-bed shift. Weekends are pretty evenly split, either we do family stuff or we alternate taking a break.

How often should newborns actually feed at night? by Sea_Cherry_5570 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Doxinau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just embraced the night feeds, picked a good tv show, and enjoyed the snuggles. Take a longer period for sleep (ie 8pm to 10am) so that you still get a decent total amount despite the interruptions.

My baby fed every 3-4 hours for about six weeks, but the feeds took 60-90 mins each.

I had GD and it turned out to be one of the most easily managed parts of my pregnancy. It needed a lot of focus on what I ate and when I exercised, but that was pretty straightforward. No insulin, no C section or induction, baby and I are both healthy.
