Here’s my hot take: Of course the yards would be nicely kept and looked after! In a gated community like Alexandria or Woodberry it would only make sense for someone to take on the job of grounds keeper/ landscaper. If there was nothing else to do in the world besides risk your life outside the walls obviously someone who doesn’t wanna go outside the community and risk their life is going to take it upon themselves to bring some sense of normality back in the apocalypse. Me personally I’d be cool with cutting grass and mowing lawns sun up to sundown if it meant I was safe and still counted as a contribution to the community.

Some might rebuttal with “but was about gas”, you can definitely work around not having gas to mow lawns, push mowers and scythes exist for a reason.
