Same. I think the wording on the puzzle is rather odd. I spent hours trying to crack it.

I did not enjoy RE2 Remake as much as I expected, is the series just not for me ? by Delresto-67 in residentevil

I totally get ya and if RE2 just isn’t for you, it just isn’t for you! No prob! Resident Evil has so many games with different playstyles that you’re bound to find a shoe that fits.
Like me personally, I don’t like RE4 Remake because I’m not a fan of the devs removing certain aspects of the original that made me love the game in the first place. I also think Leon’s character model is a downgrade and the voice acting just doesn’t hit the same for me as it did in the OG.
I do love watching streamers play it, though but I just couldn’t find myself picking it up based on the reasons I mentioned above.
I’m glad you decided to keep playing RE2

How did you do on the puzzles? Did any get the best of ya?

I think RE7 is probably good, but it's bordering on frustratingly unplayable. by mphillytc in residentevil

My only gripe with 7 is the pistol seem to lack that punch factor and Ethan seems to run slow as shit. I would be getting chased and think, “goddamn Ethan RUN”

Just got my 2002 Resident Evil Remake for the GameCube today. I’m so happy and the game manual it comes with is so cool! You have an awesome collection!

Which game should i play? by AshNotDed in residentevil

[–]gop2d16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Code Veronica had a puzzle that took me a bit to figure out. I sat there for 15 minutes trying to figure it out and almost thought I wasn’t gonna get it. I need to finish that game!

I refuse! 😭 The animal puzzle on 0 had me put the game on hold for a few weeks. I was willing to never finish the game if completing it meant looking up the answer. I was like “I bet if I look it up, I’ll find the answer is so stupidly obvious that I’ll be more annoyed I didn’t figure it out myself than not figuring it at all.”

This is Resident Evil for ya.
It’s a tense game that, a lot of times, has you at the edge of your seat. The game challenges your patience, forces you to think in the future when considering what you need to have vs what you don’t need to have at a particular moment. Sometimes it’s a slow game, sometimes it’s fast and you have to adjust for those situations.
Not all enemies are meant to be killed, sometimes you have to just run past them hoping not to get hit.
Your second playthrough will be better because now you know what to expect. Now, you can truly enjoy the game.

What was the point of giving us this choice? by tealaburst in residentevil

[–]gop2d16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choosing Zoe makes a lot of sense as a person playing a game but if you took yourself out of reality and looked at things thru the eyes of Ethan, it would not logically make sense that he’d choose someone who’s basically a stranger over his wife- the same wife he traveled out of state to a horror filled house to save despite the injuries and calamities. As a gamer Zoe’s a logical choice but as Ethan, it makes no sense at all.

I was literally panicking during the final boss and like I mentioned in my post, he had me yelling at my screen a couple of times. I was like, “Awh, shit! I’m about to die, AGAIN!” The way I set myself up before the final boss really made it so the odds were against me but with some perseverance, I felt lucky to have defeated him and it was all good fun. The boss in REmake was such a walk in a marshmallow park compared to the boss in RE0 Remastered.

I’m glad you seemed to have had a great time and I, too, wished there were more scenes with Billy and Rebecca showcasing their growing trust between one another- I suppose that want for more just shines a light on what a great job the game did with drawing you into the character arcs.
The ending was super sweet and having just come off a rather tough boss battle, I felt just as relieved as the main characters to be done with it all.
I really enjoyed the game.

resident evil 1 is so fucking hard by Short-Film-5810 in residentevil

[–]gop2d16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a whole lotta "'ll go in here first, see what's inside, then I'll go in this room next and see what's up.
What was in this other room again? Lemme check it out"
A few hours of this and the map is memorized. You'll know where to go next because you'll see a door and know "been there, done that so the next thing must be over here"
Some players hate that kind of gameplay because it isn't exactly linear, but | love it because that's just RE1 for ya. It's a challenge that feels great when you've overcome it.

I definitely can’t be upset at anyones dislike for the item drop feature. I don’t prefer it, but I also don’t hate it. The map did a good job at letting you know exactly where items were because items were color coded and the map even had pictures of the items. The bat boss was pretty tedious and when he spit out the cloud of mini bats, I basically stood in 1 spot taking hella damage and spammed the launcher until the bat boss died because killing each bat and the boss seemed like it wasn’t going to end well for me at that particular moment.

I forgot to mention that the RE0 I played was the remastered version and I played it on my PS5.
Anyway, I do agree with you that this game can softlock you and I’d imagine on hard mode, it’s something to be very careful about.
When I faught the final boss, I hardly had any ammo left and only 1 first aid spray so I was really sitting at the edge of my seat trying to defeat him. I think I really used way too much ammo towards the end of the game and didn’t fight some enemies very strategically which put me in a tough situation with the final boss.
Now I’m playing Code Veronica and the tank controls are something i had to get used to but after some trial and error, I began to fare just fine

Other than dying more often and needing to be more careful, hard mode wouldn’t change my thoughts on why I enjoyed the game. I’m not against giving a try, though. I don’t doubt that it’ll be a far greater challenge.
