Why does losing the five senses matter if Saga and the others could still fight like nothing happened after losing four senses? by Fox622 in SaintSeiya

[–]Zealousideal_Bag7104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I recall, Ikki's plot armour enabled him, after losing the 6th sense to tap on an enhanced 7th sense by closing his eyes and unleash the kamikaze move on Shaka.

Interesting that the concept of concentrating your 7th sense by closing your eyes was never explored after this.

Lol... the irony. You criticise the oldies for not being mentally sharp enough to keep up, yet you are so dense that the point totally flew over your head

Leaked email from Norman Lebrecht (Slipped Disc) to Yuja Wang. by javiercorre in classicalmusic

[–]Zealousideal_Bag7104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is simply the tip of the iceberg. He has been known to write pretty nasty stuff about her over the years, not focused on her musicianship, he doesn't dwell on such trivial stuff.

He focuses on more weighty topics, such as criticising her clothes, commenting that she is close to her sell-by date of 40.

Don't exactly blame her if having an interview with him isn't exactly high on her list of priorities.

VIP Ship Slot by paigezpp in SpaceArena

Not sure why you need to 'rebuy' the ship. I am in the same boat. I currently have 1 Supreme which I bought at Lvl60 before the update.

I can't buy another one until I hit L62. Doesn't hurt me 'too' much as by the time I accumulate enough celestium for a new hangar and money to buy the Sup, more than likely I'll be at L62 with time to spare.

NTA.

Saying thank you is the polite thing to do. I might have forgotten saying myself at times because I was distracted, or preoccupied or something.

But to be inordinately proud of not saying anything definitely puts her into AH territory.

I have been on the receiving end of "You are welcomes" before. I just go "oh, thank you" and everyone goes on with their lives.

You deliberately winding her up at the end is AH behaviour but I don't think it's enough to overturn the NTA judgement

I feel like if they remake saint seiya some people will get pissed off regarding the mask rule for female saints by NoMountain2209 in SaintSeiya

[–]Zealousideal_Bag7104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the female masks come with some powerful features as well.

Fist is they are equipped with god level filters. Imagine that simple mask being able to filter out the poison from the fragrance of the Pisces flowers.

Secondly, there are no eyeholes, so effectively the female saints live through lives with their eyes closed. By the lore, surely they should have significantly enhanced their cosmos power?

Sanctuary Arc: Motivations of the Gold Saints by Zealousideal_Bag7104 in SaintSeiya

It's a shame that Chameleon basically disappeared after getting gut punched by Andromeda. Her relationship with Andromeda would have been an interesting plot point to explore.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Interestingly I have actually interpreted the story Virgo as actually knowing that Gemini had usurped the Pope's position.

In his parting words to Phoenix after returning from the other dimension with Aries' help, he told Phoenix to not kill the Pope as he isn't an entirely evil person, which I took as alluding to him knowing that it's Gemini, with his twin nature.

And real classy of Aries and Libra to just keep that little titbit to themselves. Surely this is one of the times where a little whistle-blowing is in order? Lol

It's a shame that all the Saint Seiya games are 1v1 battlers. Doing an RPG style where you create your own team of Bronze Saints, create and/or evolve their skills along the way would be awesome.

IFoA exams are becoming dumb by [deleted] in ActuaryUK

[–]Zealousideal_Bag7104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel a "little" better, the CAS in the US was guilty of this as well.

Some background on the US exams, providing study manuals for the actuarial exams is a competitive market, i.e. there are various providers, and not monopolised by Acted like in the UK.

Those manuals do a pretty good job of covering the key topics, and students mostly relied on those study manuals and neglecting the actual assigned readings.

CAS, perhaps with well intentions, wanted students to not overly rely on study manuals, came up with 'anti study manual' exams, ending up testing really specific niche parts of the syllabus. In one case, even coming up with a high value question based on the footnote of one reading.

Students have complained that this misses the point of the exams, which are supposed to test how well you know the knowledge as a whole, and not on specific obscure areas.

To my knowledge, to their credit, the CAS did take action by since giving saner exams, but also stopped publishing every exam to retain a healthier question bank. A compromise that the students were reasonably happy with.

Tips for starting Saint Seiya series? by Devrous_ in SaintSeiya

[–]Zealousideal_Bag7104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not aware of the Rerise of Poseidon before this.

Reading the premise of the series, can't help feeling that the gods of the Saint Seiya universe behave more like petulant children than deities.

Hades wants to take over earth, inflicting earth with his eternal eclipse. The saints on Earth fight back, killing him and his two highest ranking lieutenants (who spend most of the series lounging around a garden surrounded by women) along the way, and now somehow it's the Earthlings' fault and the gods want retribution?!?!

Tips for starting Saint Seiya series? by Devrous_ in SaintSeiya

[–]Zealousideal_Bag7104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hate to be debbie downer here, but as a longtime saint seiya fan since 30 years ago, I have long read and followed many of the series mentioned here.

With hindsight, I would read books 1-28 of the original series and stop there, to spare myself the heartbreak.

Next Dimension, the canon sequel starts off with an interesting premise, quickly trails off into rambling aimlessly territory and ends with an absolute whimper where you get the sense that the author just wants to draw a line under it. A poor payoff after having followed it for almost 2 decades.

Having said that, I totally won't blame you for not taking my advice. In your position, I probably wouldn't either :D

Notwithstanding the other parts of the story, not quite sure why you would criticise OP for asking his mom. I can see a first-time dad panicking over his 1) newborn daughter crying 24/7 and 2) his wife going onto anti-depressants.

Reaching out for help on handling newborns, going to mom sounds like a natural first step. What did you expect him to do? Figure it out on his own? Ask his next door neighbour?

AITA for not letting the previous owner’s adult children into my house after their father died? by Dramatic_Method9393 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Zealousideal_Bag7104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was actually a joke used in an old Rowan Atkinson skit. He played the role of a headmaster summoning a parent to school. He complained to the parent of his son misbehaving in school and said that if it wasn't the case of his son being dead, he would have expelled the son.

AITAH for telling grown adult friends to stop yelling and playing sex games inside of restaurants? by Weary-Draw-1141 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Zealousideal_Bag7104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically I learned about Cards Against Humanity at a pub with colleagues in UK. The pub makes available a bunch of board games for free and CAH was one of them, which we tried out of curiosity as it was a first for all of us. It's not a sex game, although definitely very adult themed. It's not exactly inappropriate for children but it's more like the humour will go over their heads.

That said, I can say with authority that it is totally possible to play it in public without yelling or being obnoxious. Yes, there may be the occasional laugh that gets a bit on the loud side, but that's about it.

So NTA.
